I recently successfully unbranded my Nokia 5310 Silver using a blue product number, and I enjoy the freedom from T-Mobile's stupid restrictions with firmware v 9.42.

    A few questions i have:
    1. Is 9.42 a European firmware version? People say that 8.2x is the latest version in the USA. I notice no difference, just curious to know if there is any difference.
    2. How would I need to configure my phone to use YouTube, either the app or through the website. I get "Operation Failed" when I play a video directly through the website, and with the app, it says "Video Interrupted. Please restart the video". And it won't play at all. This would be wonderful if there was a solution.
    3. What are the optimal internet configuration settings for T-Mobile USA? I have the $9.99 100MB access plan.
    4. Is there an unbranded product number for the silver edition of the phone? I used the blue number and found no problems with it, but I liked the silver themes on the phone/music player.

    Thank you so much!

Not sure about a debranded Silver code, but you can get free themes at zedge.net

    go to menu>settings>configuration
go down to Personal config. sett.
hit options and then hit add new
    select streaming
    go back
hit options while highlighted on streaming and activate
    select streaming again
go down to access point settings and hit select
then go down to Bearer settings
go to Packet data acc. pt.
    enter epc.tmobile.com

when watching a vid if you get the message "network busy"
just wait a few seconds and the video should start

    No Email option after unbranding

I successfully debranded my T-Mobile US 5310 using the 0551710 Code. I had success going to http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com/ to have the Internet setting sent directly to my phone.

Everything works great, Opera Mini, Mobile Gmail, etc. However, I found out that Gmail does not notify me when I have a new email. So I tried to set up and email account in "Messaging" but the option is not there.

Anybody know how to install the email option? Or maybe a different code that installs the option from scratch?

I did that but there is no email option anymore in the phone for POP settings.

The phone says "Option not Supported by Phone".

    I've looked everywhere...

I can't get my 5310 to be recognized by NSS. I've downloaded and installed NSS and NSU. Everytime I scan on NSS, I get the "Scan for product...Error!". I've tried this on two different machines - one with XP and one with Vista. I've tried with and without the SIM card in too. Any ideas? Thanks!

Make sure you download the latest version. I think its 1.0.38.14. That's what did it for me.

Yep, that's the one I have. Not working for me... I'll keep messing with it, but if anyone has ideas, that would be great.

Also, try switching the 5310 setting between "PC Suite/Data/USB". I can't remember which one worked for me. I could only get it to work on an XP computer WITHOUT PC Suite installed. I just used the automatic driver that was installed as I plugged in the phone.

It was a pain for me too, I'll rack my brain to remember which one it was.

Set the phone to "PC Suite" when using the USB Cable to use the NSS software..And like Macnero said do it Without PC Suite installed on your computer..I have Vista Home and had no problems changing the product code.

    I have a Nokia 5310b XpressMusic ; v08.22 ; RM-304 ; My Original Code is 0561208.
I have USA provider: T-mobile- myFavs Flex 2yr Contract with Unlimited txt and 100mb web2go.

    1. What is the latest US firmware version?
    2. What Code can/should I use?
    3. Will unlimited calling to myFavs still work?
    4. Will http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com get internet, text msging, pic msg and everything working?
    5. Can I get tzones back on the unbranded phone?
    6. Does Instant Messaging that's on the phone by default when you get it still on it and work?
    7. Does the Music Player still work fine and is there any added music/video formats?
    8. Does the battery life change any with & without bluetooth?
    9. Any other features gained or lost?
    10. If I don't like the change to unbranded and upgraded version does anyone have a link or can tell me how to downgrade with Just Another Flasher?

You will also lose the email features including the T-Mobile installed one. You will need to sign on to the WAP browser and go thru hoops to get your email. Also, you will need to sign up for email alerts in T-Zones and you will get a text any time a new email is received. A real pain in the *** if you care about email...

Downgrading with jaf is quite simple if you are good with computers and have the actual firmware files for the branded version (ppm, mcusw, and content pack, the ape_variant is not needed). You just have to be willing to brick your phone for a few days if things go wrong and you need help to fix it. If you have ever upgraded with nsu (or restored) the files are located somewhere in %programroot%\common files. Some poking around in these folders will lead you to them. Remember, if you have never upgraded/restored to the BRANDED version of the firmware the files obviously won't be there

Gmail will foward your email to your phone without having to go though t-zones email alerts.
sign on to gmail and up on the top right corner of gmail click on settings then go to "fowarding and POP/IMAP" and send a copy to your phone number in this format xxxxxxxxxx@ tmomail.net
