HSPA up in Dryden? A buddy called me yesterday saying his phone was showing 3G in Dryden and Vermillion Bay. Spoke with tbaytel today and they couldn't confirm the service was working at this point.

Posts on tbaytel's fb page also allude to HSPA in Marathon and Red Lake.

Looks like Bell has roaming agreements with DMTS (must be a savior for DMTS) on GSM/GRPS/EDGE according to Bell's coverage map.

Can't stop chuckling... DMTS' coverage is nowhere near that extensive. They have 1 tower on Hwy 11 in Atikokan and 1 site in the Fort Frances area on the town's water tower.

Someone from Bell's marketing department should take a drive down that highway, they'd quickly realize just how bad that map makes them and DMTS look.

I believe DMTS is still planning to launch additional sites on Hwy 11. The only active sites today are in Atikokan (1 site) and Fort Frances (1 site).

City council in Dryden put a stop to their expansion plans back in May of last year. DMTS has done nothing since that time.

Tbaytel has a couple of sites in the Atikokan area running HSPA and they'll soon be launching HSPA on 3 or 4 sites in the Fort Frances area.

Not surprising. Dmts is a little small/underfunded to run a wireless network outside of gsm. Tbaytel is a large competitor, backed by Rogers. Bell/Telus could obtain dmts in a fire sale.

Am I reading this right? DMTS hired a consulting firm to prepare a report on their business. The firm then told them to demote their CEO and hire the owner of the consulting firm to replace him.

Put a tent around this 3 ring circus.

I love this quote from the DMTS press release "Mr. Hoey’s extensive knowledge and
over forty years experience in management and telecommunications will be a
tremendous asset to DMTS as the company moves forward with the new Business
    Strategy."

Doesn't seem to jive with his level of experience as quoted on the Hoey Associates website. "Eamon has 25 years of proven experience in strategic planning in the private and public sectors."

For the record, I've been around the industry for going on 16 years and I've never heard of this gentleman or his firm.

Mr. Hoey also predicted the iPhone would flop in Canada.

Someone sold DMTS a story and they bought it hook, line and sinker.

This guy is completely out of touch when it comes to the telecommunications industry in Canada. I'm sure DMTS' competitors are having a good belly laugh over this hiring.

I was on DMTS' facebook page and came across what I consider to be the dumbest policy I ever heard. According to DMTS, if you are a pre-paid customer who switches to a post-paid plan, you cannot switch back for a minimum of 6 months.

Sounds like the customer was going to be heading outside the DMTS network and wanted the roaming coverage which pre-paid does not offer. This is an unbelievably bad policy.

k so i am going out of the area in june for a week and i am on prepaid so can i switch to the 19.99 plan just for the month ? and also i would want data to stay in touch with people at home how much data would i need

    DMTS
    Hey Riley,
Sorry to tell you, but you cannot switch to post-paid (monthly plan) just for one month - you would be required to then consistantly be on a post paid account, not back and forth. Also, you are required to be over the age of 18 to qualify for one of these accounts.

However this is not the end of the road, you can (wherever you are going) purchase a pre-paid sim card from a carrier such as: Rogers, Bell, AT&T or T-Mobile and use it in your DMTS Phone. All of our phones are unlocked and provide you with that flexability.

    Hope this helps.

Riley Pollard how long would i havae to be on a post paid plan for
    April 27 at 6:03pm

DMTS Riley, once you have made the switch over to post-paid you would have to remain in that state for a minimum of six months. Keep in mind, that the phone would not be in your name though.

Check out the disclaimer they added to their website here under the heading "Cellular Coverage"
    http://www.dmts.biz/?page_id=245

I wonder which lawyer had them write that little ditty up...

Does anyone have a rough idea how many wireless cellular customers they actually have now?
    Cheeri'o...
    Frankie...

Please Note: I do not work for Bell. I also do not work for any wireless retail outlet.
Do not ask me about promotions or offers from wireless providers.
