Any info on possible video update for Sidekick 3?

yup. thats why i hate Danger. they make a new product, everything ends for the previous one.

its never going to happen because danger has already dropped the sk3.

Ok but you gotta relize that the resolution is better on da lx the sk3 the lx makes the sk3 a toy its much clearer on the lx then sk3 i couldnt see video workin properly on the sk3

besides it wouldnt make sense for danger to add video to a 2 year old device,they want you to buy the new device with video,so that they can make money. i think it sucks because other than a different os and screen resolution the lx and sk3 have the same hardware. i hope slide users get a video update as well,the slide has more powerfull hardware than the lx so i can see that happening.

I agree the resolution as far as the lx screen is concerned is better but its the same crap camera... not that I don't love my lx more than anything on earth. The truth just is sk cameras in general suck. I have a 2 3 and lx and you can't tell the difference in photo quality. Also, new items keep appearing in the 3 catalog.. I guess its just wishful thinking on my part so I don't have to buy my bf that damned Tony Hawk lx for his bday. I've heard rumors of youtube support coming for lx, any info on that? Thanks for everyones input.

no youtube wouldn't work on a sidekick because the Internet would time out all the time because it would take too long converting video from the backend server that danger uses plus danger's servers can only send very small files at once.

They could provide youtube support somehow... possibly compress the video thru danger's servers like how they do the webpages. Well I guess its more an issue of optimizing the pages thru danger's servers or something like that I think I read somewhere. Anyway the point is if tmo/danger wanted to they could do it. I suppose I should be happy we are getting video support at all but man, if they would support youtube I don't think any phone could compete with the lx. For my uses nothing can touch it anyway but youtube would sure be nice for boring times when you're stuck waiting around somewhere.

^ honestly youtube gets boring after a while,even in the iphone screen which is a higher resolution than the lx's i thought id use youtube all the time but nope. ive used other video sites more than youtube on my iphone. like i said danger doesnt let pages or files bigger than 100-300 kb (i think) go thru the server. they would have to create their own codec,now with ms on board it can hurt them or help them.

no vid on the sk3. honestly i didn't think the lx was much of a step up from the sk3 thats why i didn't buy it until my sk3 kicked the bucket and my contract was up anyways...
the lx is superior in so many small ways it just makes it feel like a greater fone than the sk3

When using danger's server to grab data, the maximum is 8mb for a transfer. That is only using their sever though, which will send you the requested data if you go in and out of service. A straight socket connection, bypassing Danger has no limit.
