LG Rumour - Applications Cannot Access File System
I have a few Java Apps installed on my LG Rumour that require access to the phone's file system. Is there a file I can modify using either bitpim or qpst that will allow them access?
Right now, I get error messages such as "Application not authorized to access the restricted API", or "No Access! Cannot access file system".
I've searched high and low for a solution to this, and have come up with nothing.
Also, I've come across ways of getting rid of the java permission prompt, but none of them are relevant to the Rumour. Does anyone know of a way of getting rid of this prompt on this phone?
I finally solved my little problem. In case anyone is interested, this is what I did....
Bitpim recognizes the Rumour as "Other CDMA Phone" which does not provide access to all the files and directories on the phone. If you manually change the phone to the LG-VX8700 (other types may work as well, I don't know - I just chose this one randomly) you will see files and directories not seen before.
Now, you can edit the _policy file and allow untrusted domains full access.
Even with 8700X still unable to get access to files, it does treat some files like directories, however, where is this policy file your talking about in the directory structure?
I really couldn't say. I did nothing to my bitpim settings - I simply changed the phone model.
I don't know if virgin mobile would have changed the OS.
Sorry, I'm not much help at this point.
I would also like to know the answer to the question above. I can't seem to connect my Rumor to bitpim with bluetooth. Is it even possible. I really want to be able to install apps. Thanks
Alright, so this thread is a little dated, but maybe someone is still kickin around - I wandered through different phone models and found that the LG-VX8600 gives me access to the _policy file...what's worth editing from that point on? I've been playing with Bitpim and a few of the menus in the Filesystem, but I'm a little hesitant to make any changes until someone is willing to provide some guidance. Any takers?
Ya, I've seent that thread - I'm pretty sure I've read absolutely everything available for the phone, bitpim, and a number of applications. I've figured out a lot, gained access to the phone using bitpim the same way prairiedogg did, for the most part, and managed to change a number of functions in the phone. The most recent hurdle I'm facing has to do with activating GPS on a Sasktel phone. Someone posted on the gmap forum that he was able to get GPS to work on the network, but I have yet to see it happen, even after accessing the gpsONE menu, altering the protocol file and trying a number of different programs. If anyone has advice on this, lemme know!
I've spent hours scouring the web for info on how to make bitpim work with the rumor.
I guess I'll just manually type in my contacts from my old phone instead of transferring them over. I'm hoping that the people at bitpim can figure out a way to do it through that software.
Got *some* contacts to transfer MAC>Rumor via bluetooth
I've been trying to move contacts from my wife's old Motolora RAZR to her new Sprint Razor. I've been somewhat successful. 40 out of 70 contacts transferred but I can't figure out why 30 did not.
I used the 'Motorola Phone Tools' to export a .vcf address book file from the RAZR to my PC. I then copied the .vcf file to my Macbook and used Bluetooth to import the contacts.
I have now been spending the last couple of hours trying to clean up the .vcf file to see if I can get the other 30 contacts to import but no luck.
