For Gen 1 you still need to connect or make one of the apps to connect. per say. For example if you want to have the email check every 30 minutes, it will connect you every 30 minutes to check email. If you want to check weather you need to click on the icon for weather and it will connect/update, otherwise its not connected. Its not running in the background if thats what you are asking. With Gen 1 its hard to get to 300mb per month, unless you are viewing Youtube at all times, its very sluggish anyways on Edge to do that.

With 3G I think it is connected at all times. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Rogers currently is selling air cards for that...for $0
1st gen iPhones use EDGE which is 10-15 times slower then 3G. I have a 1st gen iPhone and sure 300-400 MB is enough for me, but if I had a 3G then i would be using web based apps way more, like iRadio which is live streaming. That alone will eat up 300 MB in just a few hours of listening to live streaming radio.

Just got off the phone with SIX different CSR reps (I like to verify any new pices of info). It has been updated into the system that the new plans will allow canada wide my5 to be added for $15, which is EXCELLENT at least for me. Additionally, it is likely that the $5 1000 LD minutes which I have would also be transferred. As far as I can tell, while not unlimited, im happy with these plans. Maybe ill go 75+15(my5)+5(LD)+20(essentials)=115 a month....wow im going to be broke.

I had Unlimited Income added for two years for free last November and then upgraded to a Touch, and nothing changed, neither to my reduced voice plan nor to my unlimited incoming... And I intend on keeping this plan until October 2009!

115 before taxes. you could almost lease a car for that amount haha. I say a good plan with data should not exceed $75 including taxes.

Yes but that is part of the point, with Rogers you HAVE to be locked into a contract for the extra year.

With other carriers around the world you are free after 1-2 years and can bring your iPhone to another network.

and you wonder why plans are expensive when you waste peoples time and money like that.

I gotta say I've talked to quite a few people on it today, and joe average likes it so far. I have a nice waitlist so far of people who are switching, some from bell, some telus. some getting it for family, etc...only had 1 person who says it's too much.

they either disagree with you(likely cause they don't know any better) or just don't care and HAVE to have the iphone.

this thread is fantastic I don't think I have laughed so hard in such a long time.. Did you really think that Teddy would listen to you? I mean come on people have been screaming and kicking for half decent data packages up here for how long and yet people still seemed shocked when given the finger yet again. Don't whine to the Government, don't complain to your media, friends and family it's simple if you don't like what you are being offered then vote with your feet THAT is the only way to get attention from someone like Rogers

Although Foothills is a pretty nice hospital, I think it would be more efficient to fly to Edmonton to get ot a hospital than wait in Calgary.
