Cleanhead, were you an existing customer? If not, you got that through CS. Wow, I guess I'll try again today or tomorrow. Two iPhones is the limit right, cause thats what I'll need.
EDIT: Okay, I just called CS and they said that I would be able to get the couples plan. Hallelujah!. He said some system error was rejecting couples plan on Friday so they couldn't offer it. But now everything is okay and I can do it now.
"... existing price plans for the iPhone will go back into effect Sept. 1. 'What we're trying to do is satisfy a very small group of people, the early adopters,' he said. 'When those customers are done, we're back to our basic user.'"
As some probably know, because I've vented in another thread... I got my line in November 2007, and only got a SIM card... no hardware, no contract... I can't get the iPhone until November 2008, because I'm not eligible for a hardware upgrade, even though there is no hardware to upgrade!
So I'm screwed on the 6gb of data for $30/month because Rogers won't work with their existing customers... Since I'm only month-to-month, I could cancel this account, and open a new line to get the iPhone... but I'd lose my number, which is a custom number that I don't want to loose.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Can't you port out the number to a Fido prepaid SIM then port it back?

Port to Fido to keep your number and get the iPhone?
I had read of someone else already getting an order in as well.
Sneakz, Thanks for mentioning the $65. Couples plan. The extra $10. buys 1,000. L.D. minutes (to Canada/U.S.) as well as 700 daytime minutes on a 3 year contract. Not bad, as long as I buy more minutes before going over the plan. I like that I will get messages as I get close. Also like the per second billing. I can't believe the collusion that took that away from the Rogers and Bell customers. Talk about moving backwards in market competition. (Just like the upcoming Belus text message charges.)
Fido still had some iPhones left yesterday, but now are out of stock. They will deliver a white 16 GB to my office by August 2nd at the latest. (I expect it late next week.) They are throwing in a Samsung slider that is fine for what my wife would like. (It has a 2MB camera.) When I asked for it for free they they said sure and tossed in a Bluetooth headset. (Like she'll ever wear that!)
$65. Couples plan mentioned above
$7. 5-7 pm "happy hour" evening on the iPhone
$30. 6 Gigs of data on the iPhone
$15. VVM value pack
$6.95 x2 SAF
$.50 x2 911 fee
Just under $150. with tax. Less than we have been paying at Bell with the unlimited bb plan and mucho daytime minutes.
I might as well forego the happy hour 5-7 pm option until after the three months of unlimited incoming AND outgoing runs out.
I am trying to decide whether to go with Rogers or Fido. Can I ask if your 1000 Mins were just between the two phones or to call external? Do you have unlimited incoming?
Rogers has a good Family 30 and 35 plans which I were considering.
Any other reasons you picked Fido over Rogers? Seems like i'm looking for the same plan u were.

Maybe things will change after July 24th. But don't hold your breath.

$60+$60+$30+14.90=$164.90*1.13
Total = $186.34 after Ontario Tax
Can I do that? This would be for a new account, new subscriber with two lines being ported from Telus and the phones would be two 16GB iPhone 3Gs.
Yes 100% for sure that will work.
Also for $10 more ($5/line) you can add data pooling. That way if one user is a light user the other person gets almost 12GB of data

Hopefully my CS agent calls me back early this week to give me this same good news. I got rejected on a family plan with an iPhone on Saturday morning. This needs to be communicated better to all CS agents.
I don't know why this all has to be in one thread, but I am grateful for all the info posted between the rants on this forum!
The thread title survives from a time when this was the only (well, 2nd after the 1st was locked) iPhone thread in the Rogers subforum.
Perhaps now that the subsubforum "iPhone on Fido/Rogers Discussion" has been opened, this thread should die. The questions are too various and answers get buried, as opposed to the million specific question/info threads now begun in iPhone on "Fido/Rogers Discussion."

Yes there is unlimited incoming with the Couples $65 plan. (And outgoing for three months!)
I understand that the 1,000 L.D. minutes were to call anywhere in Canada and the U.S. Since the second line is hardly used I hope the L.D. is not restricted to these two phone lines.
Data pooling sounds great, but isn't needed in our case.
I picked Fido over Rogers because I loath the latter company even more than the other three amigos in this closed market. Fido's per second billing and earlier evenings help as well. Eventually I will have to be careful not to go over my plan without pre-buying extra minutes at $.10/minute, because otherwise it is $.35/minute!

Can't... I called Fido to make sure my number was able to be ported over, and since I'm located in Chatham where Fido has no service, they won't port my number over...

Yep, looks like you are correct there CRS1, thanks for the link. That takes a bit of the smirk off my face - at least until the actual iPhone arrives.
Unless I'm doing an out-of-town project, I think I will invoke the Couples 55 plan instead and simply buy extra minutes on the busiest months.
Stay tuned until July 24th when there will be another announcement for eligibility to obtain the iPhone! I don't know specifics yet but when I am allowed to say so, it will be here!
