I'm all for writing emails too. Heck, I type 95/wpm, bring it on!
Ok, data, 400 MB for the "cheapest" plan, all fine and dandy - but there MUST be an option for adding the plan on to your current plan. It's not the data that is outragious, it's the VOICE!!! That's where the true ripoff is!
If I could keep my current plan with Every Call Value Pack, 200 everyday minutes, free evening & Weekends and free incoming calls for $ 33.45 a month and add a data plan, I'd be a happy camper. If I go over the 400 MB, I get the next plan up and so on. But with these "options" for voice, I want to cry.

When we become stronger, we will hit back. And we will make pain, and they will suffer. Because we would have preferred for them to live and let live, but if they play unfairly, our day of revenge will come.
The prospect of getting a 3G iphone has suddenly become less interesting...
As someone mentioned, picking up an unlocked iphone, adding the $30/300 meg data plan suddenly has become a very attractive option. At least you get to keep a better voiceplan and have virtually the same amount of data...
Guess I'll be sticking with my old WM phone for a little while longer.
I can't believe you guys still want to work with Rogers. Stop telling people to buy 1st gen iphones and then come back to Rogers plz. IT's JUST A PHONE. A phone. That's all.
Stop paying Rogers all together and they'll get the message.
I don't know why all of a sudden everyone was expecting Rogers to come out with all these great deals. They are the only provider with the iPhone, why should they match Telus or Bell's data plans?
If you break down the $60 plan it's pretty much in line with their current pricing. Lets says $40 for the 400MB (based on the $30/300MB plan) then $20 for 150 day, Eve and Week and 75 text.
Are these plans great?
Hell no, but if you want the iPhone this is what you have to pay....and Rogers knows that
Has anyone been able to track down a link to see charges for you US roaming - both data and voice?
Ideally there will be add-ons in place as there has been in the past for BlackBerry data, but I wasn't able to come up with those this morning- something seems to be slowing down Rogers site...hmm, wonder what that could be.
It's interesting to see that where Rogers once charged 5˘/kb for data overages they now are charging 3˘/MB (in the long run, after $30 for the first 50MB).
It will be interesting to see if their data roaming has been adjusted in a similar fashion.
Hmmm. That Nokia N95-4 with the U/L mobile browsing (as limited as it may be...) is starting to look a whole lot better!
I agree that the real kicker with these plans is the lack of flexibility from the voice/options side. Limited minutes (assuming try to stay with the base $60 plan), no option for R2R or U/L Incoming, no option for long distance, and pretty weak "value pack" options. (Can you even add minutes separately without jumping to a higher pack, or are you stuck with 35˘/min overages?)
If the $7 U/L browsing doesn't cut it, with a N95, at least you take whatever voice plan you have managed to negotiate through retentions, and add $30/300mb. If you have a plan with decent minutes, an earlier EW time, and either R2R or U/L incoming, the iphone plans fall way short.
To compare a "reasonable" retention plan with 250 min, EW @ 6pm, and U/L incoming (or R2R) for about $25, with either an “old” $15 value pack (Call Display, VM, 125 text, 50 MMS, U/L mobile browsing, Who called, and Mobile backup) or an $11 pack (Same minus the MMS and U/L mobile browsing) with $30/300mb, plus add $5 for 1000 min long distance, and you end up with $45 and $71 respectively (plus SAF and 911, but this applies to iphone as well), for a whole lot more flexibility.
For the iphone, even at the $60 base plan plus the $15 value pack, for $75 you are still shy 100 daytime minutes, EW at 9pm vs. 6pm, and no long distance or U/L incoming/R2R. The benefits seem to be 100mb more data, more text, the visual VM, and access to Rogers hotspots. (Rogers/Fido only right?)
I for one was really on the fence with which way to go between these two phones, so I guess I can thank Rogers for making the choice simple! I figure I’ll start at $45 and if the U/L mobile browsing doesn't let me do everything I need, I'm still further ahead if I switch to the $30/300mb.
As already mentioned, another option would be to buy a grey market iphone and add the $30/300mb, but based on the limited flexibility (read "cash grab") of these new plans, I don’t see Rogers being eager to allow that to happen!

w810iOwner is right. Completely 100% right. You have a choice. The choice is not to buy.
It really just is a phone. And a phone that doesn't do a whole lot much more then any other phone.
I don't even really have a huge problem with the data limits, I could get behind the proposed price points if:
-call display was included
-evenings actually started in the evening not at night (6pm)
-data overage was more reasonable
-all the other BS fees were included (access fee, 911, etc.)
