The normal text reads something like "the greater of $20 per month or $100", so I think the first digit is just being doubled up in both numbers.
Stranger still is that the "Terms and Conditions" link is titled "iPhone Value Packs Terms" as if they don't apply to other value packs or even iPhone voice and data plans.
Could it be that they have a very sleepy set of mid-level managers at Rogers, and a web team which lacks basic levels of skill?

That's not a question. It's a fact!

All my posts are my own opinion only and not necessarily that of any of my employers, past or present.
what happened your leaked info about plans being the same as in the US??
you got balls for posting that crap..
or did your "friend" dupe you??
He stated MANY-a-time that nothing was in cement and that those plans might change. You and a bunch of other ppl ran with it and made it into a gigantic hoopla. Even rogers so far released their plans and have already said on a couple of occasions that plans might change. Do you see the pattern here? THINGS CHANGE!!!!! Stop trying to roast iFido already...
I emailed Bruce Mann last week, and got a response today... it appears to confirm the newly post information on the Rogers website:
It looks like they are starting to take the all suggestions and backlash seriously...
I'm cross posting this in both the Fido and Rogers forums... hope that's ok.
My original email to him.
I was really excited about Rogers/Fido getting the iPhone as a currently Fido subscriber... up until today. Now I may just end up forgetting it all and going with another provider.
The problem is that there are a lot of existing subscribers who already are very happy with the voice portion of their plan but are willing to pay for a little more for a modest amount of data. For example something like: $10 for 150 to 200MB... charge more for unlimited.... These are the people you've eliminated as potential customers for the iPhone.
If you provide a reasonably priced add-on data option and allow users have it added to existing voice plans, I think you would not be able to keep the iPhone on your shelves...
His reply to me:
Fyi:
- iPhone 3G bundles released June 27 are not the ONLY price plans available to our customers, they are the high value plans that allow our customers to use this device to its fullest and offer considerable savings over separate voice and data plans that exist in market today.
- As always, our customers have many choices, they can use their existing voice and smartphone data plans if they wish, including for example, selecting from our new data pricing (ranging from $30 for 300MB to $100 for 6GB or $50 Flex Rate plan) and then adding a voice plan that suits their own needs, or they can choose a voice and data plan to best suit their individual needs.
- Customers do not need to take the value packs, and can order most other features a la carte, such as $7 for Caller ID.
- With respect to existing customers, all customers' accounts are unique. If desired, customers can keep their existing voice service plan and pick a separate data plan (not in the iPhone 3G bundle) to meet their needs.
- They will need to check their upgrade eligibility but any customer with a monthly service fee that is over $30 for example, can upgrade to an iPhone 3G at $199 (for the 8GB model). Other pricing may be available depending on the customer's individual information.

I just found the exact same email in my inbox, from Bruce. Except he addressed me with my first name (and got it wrong LOL). I definitively think they're moving something. They didn't think this through and had to have some serious meetings this morning. I also got a voicemail message from some executive call center lady (funny thing is I never gave anyone my phone number, just my name, but they still found my home phone number - I wonder why they didn't call my cellphone!!), but she's already gone. I'll have to talk to her on Wednesday. It really sounds like they needed a strategy first, and now they can address the first issue - their disgruntled customer that are already on better plans.
If you'd prefer, I will not post possible upcoming rumours/plans/changes from now on. Frankly, this is the first time this particular source has been wrong but both himself and myself both stated it was only a preliminary draft...a memo with possible future plans. Rogers changes their minds all the time. If you take anything as fact before it's released publicly then that's not my problem. I personally would rather share info rather than hold onto it. Sometimes it turns out right, other times things change. Nothing new here.
BTW, Thanks to everyone else who has been grateful and appreciative. It's because of you that I come here and share what I've got. Cheers.
ALSO: I got that email from Bruce Mann as well. Word for word!
The way I see it, Rogers never really 'wanted' to offer the iPhone. If they wanted it so bad they would have jumped on the boat last year.
Offering the iPhone with these outrageous data plans allows them to say "you asked for the iPhone, here it is" while maintaining loyalty to RIM. Just because they are offering the iPhone doesn't mean they want you to buy it :P
Let's face it, Rogers has and will sell more BBs than they do/will sell iPhones. Why bite the hand that feeds for a new unknown certainty?
If your living in china your good to go aswell with the IPHONE
Subscribers who sign up for a 24-month contract can purchase an 8GB iPhone 3G for about $377 ($2938 HKD) or a 16GB model for around $479 ($3738 HKD) when choosing a $24 ($188 HKD) per month service plan that includes 500 basic minutes, 500 heart-to-heart minutes ( MOBILE TO MOBILE) , 25 multimedia content messages, 15 text content messages, 500 MB of data usage and unlimited Intra SMS messages.
I wouldnt mind buying iphone upfront, even with that their basic is 24 a month with 500MB of data.
A $34 per month plan subsidizes the 8GB iPhone to $233 ($1738 HKD) and the 16GB model to $326 ($2538 HKD) and includes 800 basic minutes, 900 heart-to-heart minutes, 40 multimedia content messages, 25 text content messages, 500 MB of data usage and unlimited Intra SMS messages.
Stepping up to a $42 per month plan reduces the cost of the 8GB iPhone to $128 ($938 HKD) and the 16GB model to $223 ($1738 HKD) and bundles 1500 basic minutes, 1200 heart-to-heart minutes, 50 multimedia content messages, 35 text content messages, 500 MB of data usage and unlimited Intra SMS messages.
Subscribers who opt for 3's top-tier plan at $64 per month get an 8GB iPhone for free, or a 16GB for less than $20 ($138 HKD). The plan includes 2200 basic minutes, 1500 heart-to-heart minutes, 150 multimedia content messages, 50 text content messages, unlimited data usage and unlimited Intra SMS messages.
Rogers is taking seriously all the backlash. I just saw the report on CBC Newsworld with regards to ruinediphone.com
I mean, this is really bad publicity and it will cost them money to keep their image clean. It will not necessarily affect the iPhone sales too much but it will definitely stick with consumers (other than HoFoers) that Rogers sucks. With that being said, if they decide to change the plans I would not expect miracles.
OK now let's keep ruinediphone.com alive.
Best things in life are free! I guess I am with the wrong provider then...
Ok.. how about an iphone data plan? They spent the time brainstorming to make up these complicated "high value" voice/data plans..but then we have to use generic plans that are made for devices that have a much lower data need then the iphone?. yeah I understand the whole flex data plan shiz...but that still is .. $50 this month? did i check my email or use safari a bit too much..will it be $70?...why do I have to worry about that when I paying so much money each month?. That's not value for the customer..that's worrisome and goes against mass adoption.
$50 unlimited ONLY on the iphone sounds about right.. that still puts me into $120 realm monthly with my voice package.. I am willing to pay that for a decent data plan that I don't have worry about..offer a billion different high value plans for everyone..but offer the option of an unlimited data plan for the people that are willing to pay it. I think Rogers needs to listen to their customers.. Dont tell us its high value when all of us are telling you its not high value.. Thats very generous and kind of them to be thinking of us but we are not 3 years old and they are not our mothers...we pay the bills..you listen to what your customers are asking for. period. People who want 300 megs can pay $30 for it..people who want 500 megs can pay for that too.. There is no reason NOT to offer an unlimited plan except you just dont want to dilute the obscene data price point you are lucky enough to be able to maintain untill another GSM provider comes knocking.
Not a cocky attitude, but its condescending for Rogers to tell us what they think WE should feel is high value. All of your customers are saying we feel unlimited data is high value for us and we are willing to pay. Whats so hard to understand? they purposefully don't acknowledge it and put some garbage out " we care too much to see you pay for service your not using..that's why while the majority don't use alot of data..we put caps on it for your own good.." BS BS BS BS BS
Things better change big time in the next 2 weeks..Keep the pressure up.. and none of that " well they gave us the option now to add on their pricey data plans..we should be grateful, lets not push too far" Rogers certainly doesn't feel that way when it comes to gouging. Too little. too late. Not acceptable when they can offer better..and they are expecting 36 month contracts..we should expect a certain level of customer acknowledgment on their parts.
ROGERS WE WANT AN UNLIMITED DATA PLAN.. THAT IS HIGH VALUE TO US, LISTEN TO YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS!!!!
They have ruined the iPhone launch pretty much no matter what they offer now. They look greedy, and making any concession now looks just like a PR move to calm down the protests.
If they had done it the other way, they could have still made a boat load of money and had more customers, rather than fewer customers who have larger profit margins. Pissing off Mac fans, tech fans is usually a bad idea in this age!
