are instant noodles really coated by wax?

as i am eating my spicy korean instant noodles... my friends keep telling me rumors of instant nooldes having wax on them... even my gf's dad tells me this..

but my question is.. is this really true or its just a myth?

because my question is.. why the heck would a company use wax to coat a edible food? even if its a thin layer.. thats a lot of wax just to cover a packet of instant noodles..

as well look at japan and china, there is a big community of instant noodle eaters... esp japan they eat alot of them.. but you dont see them dying like flies or have health problems related to instant noodles.

i did do google, and alot of peoples opinions say they are made of wax, ...

and some tell you the correct way to cook them
    http://www.davidtan.org/correct-way-...nstant-noodle/

i hate this correct way they suggest cause that just defeats the purpose of it being instant.. if i am going to have to do a two step process to make sure my noodles are safe.. i might as well just buy the regular noodles because atleast i can just put them in the boiling water and not worry..

i really only found one that says no there isnt.. and his comments does make sense...

I should hope not. I can't see any reason to coat them with wax as they're dried an should keep well enough without a wax coating. However it would not surprise me since they add all kinds of gross stuff to foods to preserve them.
To heck with flowers and candy, leave the jewelry at the store, but when it comes to cell phones, I always want one more.

i think it is wax that makes a candle burn bright yellow, right? then, if your noodles burn like a candle, it has wax...

or better yet, have a surfer taste your noddle, since they work so much with wax, they will know if your noodle has wax...
i use my cellphones too much, my brains are fried...

That's just an urban legend, instant noodles are NOT coated with wax. They are, however, actually fried at the factory to get them semi-cooked so all you have to do is add the hot water. I guess the urban legend came about from seeing the remaining oil from the noodles rise up to the top of the cup/bowl and some believing it to be melted wax.

I could see them coated them with a food grade wax. It would keep them from absorbing moisture (but you would think the plastic package would do that) and it would be edible. They would not use parafin (petroleum based) or any other non edible wax.

Try lighting a brick of instant noodles on fire with a lighter and video tape it, YouTube it, then post it here so we can see what happens.

I threw a Pringle into a campfire once. It literally melted (curled up and turned to liquid), before catching on fire with flames and turning black. I have not touched a Pringle since then.

Same way people think that chewing tobacco has bits of fiberglass in it. Its all urban legend. I don't believe it.
