    docomo 905i

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if you guys know which docomo 905i series phone is the most stable? I was thinking about getting the P905, but I've heard stories where reception is lost and people have to carry a backup phone.

Is it true that I need a specific roger sim card series in order to be able to use the phones?

    Thanks.

there's no such thing as most stable with these japanese phones..people have different opinions with different sim cards and different sim hack
with the rogers sim card..anything that's 3040 or under works. im not sure about the 4000 series tho, i heard the new iNEX hack support those

of course there's phones that are more stable then others. i have tried all the 905s and SO905iCS is the most stable i think my gf and i both fido and rogers never had OUTS except for me once. D905 seems to be very stable as well.

P905i however is more troublesome...There are deadzones that still need to be fixed. It's reception is very good at Richmond hill area in Toronto but when you hit more southern areas it starts to cripple a little.

hey murdock, read your review on the phone, thanks for that.

marktang, which one would you say has better/stable reception, the p905 or sh905? i think i'm gonna get a flip phone, so the so905 is out of the question for now.

    kl25, i just checked and i have a 3040 series sim card.

i believe the prices of the 905i series phones are about the same, since the 906i just came out, right?

where would you guys recommend me buying the phone?

i have no doubts in what marktang said, obviously he is a more experienced japanese cellphone user. however, from what i've read around this forum, ppl seem to have different opinions on the stabilty of these phones. i think it's more important for you to pick one that you really like, base on it's design or fucntion or whatever, instead of looking into the stability first..(since all of them aren't VERy stable anyways)
after you've picked out a phone you really like, then ask for opinions on how well the phone works under the network you are on..

i bought my phone on yahoo.com.hk..my frd picked it up for me and is bringing it back
some sellers are very flexible and are willing to ship internationally. i seller i dealt with was very nice and he knows his stuff. pm me if you want his ID

i've done some research before too, and marktang here has a good rep in selling these phones
but in the end, its up to you to work out the math and see which ever way would come out cheaper for you

Thank you for your kind words kl25. and yes it is important to find a phone that you like rather than seeing which is the most stable and then picking that one because there will always be 1 person out there that will have unstable reception no matter what phone the person has.
Research is the key because alot of ppl still have no clue how to operate or whats the limits of japanese phones.
if you have questions then you can pm me or email me.

the so905i is a flip phone, and the signal strenght seen to be more stable than p905i (since i used to own both phone, just sold it on ebay last week for about 700). I will go with the SH905i if i were you and doesn't like the so905i look, buying p905i is just really asking for trouble imo, i lost my signal so many on that phone it's not even funny anymore.
