As you guys all know, the sharp 923SH just came out. I was wondering if the "new media" sim hack for the sharp 920SH will work for the 923SH since they are similar in appearance and both support gsm networks (Global Roaming). Because I can get they 923SH for a good price (around 200cdn) So I was wondering if is a good time to get it now or wait. Thanks!

Well..lol...I wish I could get you one or get more so I can sell it to other people. But my friend is going to japan tmr and he is going to hook me up with one I guess if you put it that way. And I guess I WILL be buying this phone since my 920SH just died, I hate this.lol

They arent for sale on Yahoo because they are too new (softbank prohibits the sale of new phones on Yahoo), and even if they were they would be at least 350 (which is a little more than the going rate of a new 920SH)
Or is your friend intending to buy under contract and then cancel or something?
Either way i am jealous
(though its ok, i will just continue to use my 922SH with all features unlocked and working)

Hehe, yeah sorry i'm using this phone as it was intended... with a softbank sim and data plan. Though i am trying to encourage IonNuke with his unlocking efforts, because one day i will go back to Australia and i intend to bring this phone back with me fully unlocked (hey i can dream!)
Had another look today, and still no hits on the 923SH. It only appeared in the shops last week so unless someone is sick of it already... It IS a bit bigger than the 920SH, but you cant notice it until you have them side by side
Looks better though, with the chrome strip around the outside etc

@ Tokyo_dom...my fd is going under contract to get the phone for me. He is going to be in japan until sept so he is going to swap phones after he get the 923SH and mail the phone to me. I just wish he would hurry up..lol
@ shungo...still not sure...might find out 2nite if I can get a hold of a wall charger @ pmall or fmp.

Is your friend Japanese? Because the only way you can get a phone on contract here as a foreigner is if you show a visa that has at least 2years on it (I was not able to get a contract since my visa expires in 1 yr). And then, you buy phones with the 2yr contract and pay them off over the 2yrs, at retail price (eg my 922SH was $680 under contract - 923SH would be similar)
Not trying to sound negative, but it if he isnt Japanese it may be difficult for him to get a phone here (you can connect to softbank and pay monthly without contract, and all you need is a foreigner registration card, which you get if you are here for more than 3 months). If he does that he can buy any phone outright, but not on a payment plan like with the contract... It will be well above $200 though!

He is not japanese...he is chinese...same as me. lol. He is only going there with a traveller's visa. But he has some japanese friends from osaka. I don't how is that going to work out, I was suppose to go with him this year but I couldn't because I am going to NY this year. But hmmm do u think 923SH is worth 200cdn right now?..or should I get it later...?

With a tourist visa you cannot get a phone here. Its retardedly hard to get a phone in Japan thanks to all the foreigners who did dodgy with contracts and criminal activities.
In that case I guess maybe his friends will get a contract for him, but they will be hit up for the rest of the handset payments when your friend goes home and tries to cancel the sim card (plus the fees for breaking contract). There just isnt any way to legitimately get a 923SH for 200cdn that i can think of!
BUT... if he has found a way (please tell me!), because i would be interested. Its definitely worth that much, and even if you cant use it in Canada, Just send it back to his friends in Osaka, because they will be able to get more than 200cdn by selling it on Yahoo. In fact they might want it back when they find they are being chased by softbank

I hope I get the 923SH...I don't mind waiting...cause 923Sh is everything I ever wanted in a phone. I was thinking of getting a new sharp phone ever since last year. And my wish came true...the 923sh was my wish..haha..I just hope it doesn't take them a long time to unlock 923Sh since it runs pretty much the same as the 920SH with some sweet upgrades..lol
