3G iPhone Signal Problems...Post Here!

All I am stating is in area's were coverage is poor to begin with it seems the 3G Iphone magnifies the problem for some reason as Iphone has a problem pulling in a weak 3G signal and prefer to camp on 2G network if at all possible. At my house there is no 2G network coverage at all which is why 3G Iphone keeps going to "No Service". Both Moto at my home are able to maintain 4-5 bars at all times.

Oh i don't think the v3xx is bad at all (Except AMR-HR 2G quality), its great, it just gives up 3G for 2G too easily imo.

It does sound like a problem with the iphone, thats for sure.

Okay, I tried this one too.

With WiFi turned on: 1825kbps
EDGE (2-3 bars during test): 1289kbps
3G (2 bars): 405kpbs

These results were from my home; I'm going to try different results later today from a known good 3g location.

Various times this morning, I've already seen the phone drop back to GRPS rates... (blue box with white circle in it instead of "E" or "3G")

central London here -supposedly great 3G coverage but on the 2 iphones we have here - BOTH have TERRIBLE 3G signal - in fact 1 of the iphones here is stuck on 2G nearly all the time.

Before you call ATT, dial *3001#12345#* on your phone and run the test. You will get numbers is -db which tells the real reception (bars could mean anything). If you are able to talk to a tech, and tell them "I constantly get -95db reception on my iPhone and -80db on my moto in the same location", you will have identified an iPhone problem. If the -db is close on both phones, it's a network saturation problem. My guess is that it's a combo. If it's software we could see a fix in a relatively short period of time, if it's hardware (either network or phone), we're screwed!

One of the reason we bought the new iphone 3G was that it has 3G. Well what's the point if 3G speeds are slower than EDGE! OUR VOICE NEEDS TO BE HEARD!

Disappointed iphone users, send your feedback to Apple. Tell them how you feel about your purchase and what to improve on. If we can all send in our complaints maybe we can push Apple in making a statement or a new Software or Firmware Update.

Apple reads feedback from their consumers very carefully. We want to get our moneys ($30 data plan for US) worth! Apple can encourage AT&T in expanding and perfecting their 3G coverage across America. If we all work together we can live happily ever after with our iphones and continue to buy great products from Apple! We want to see the iphone succeed! Help spread the word!

I might as well chime in - I live in Manhattan on the Upper West side. I get terrible 3G coverage. Mostly 1 bar - have trouble with call fails, dropped calls and call not coming through clear. This is extremely frustrating as I had hoped improvements from the old phone I had on VZ's network

have a 16gb Iphone

Ok, so maybe ATT's 3G network is swamped so it is slow. I suppose I can accept that explanation *temporarily*. However, someone please explain to me why it is that when I am traveling in my car and on a call, I drop the call if I leave an area of 3G coverage? WHY can't this phone switch over to EDGE and maintain the call, rather than just dropping it?? Someone explain to me why this isn't a hardware (or a hardware/software) issue with the iPhone 3G itself. Incidentally, if I turn off 3G and travel the same route (which I do every day), I never drop any calls.

well i'm confused what the apple iphone 3G ON option means. does that lock to 3g only? or is that dual mode? and then with 3G off, is that gsm only? cause it seems to me that with 3g on, it only looks for 3g service and wont switch to gsm. other phones like my n95 have gsm onle, 3g only, and dual mode. so i know exactly what's selected. i lock to 3g only. but in dual mode, the phone hands off to gsm during a call quite nicely...
