    env 2 ringtones

can someone give me a step by step on the best or an easy way to get ringtones on my phone for free. I don't have a data cable. I do have a micro SD card if that helps.

I have found that the easiest way for me is to just send them to my10digitnumber@vzwpix.com and save them from there. I have a micro SD card also, but have not messed with it yet.

is there a size limit or a file format I should put them in. What is a good media editor?

I haven't run into any size limitation myself, but I try to keep my tones to around 30 seconds. That is the max that it really should be, since VM will kick in after that.

For editing, that is up to you. A lot of people swear by Audacity, but I tried it and didn't like it. For my Mac, I use one called MP3Trimmer.

Ill second the motion for sending it via email. Im trying to remember the websites that allows you to upload the song and cut it and save. Ugh! Give me a second to find the site.

I have a VX8300 so things might differ for you, but you can try this and see if it works. (Worked for my sons gf who has the Env)

I try to keep my tones under 200kb so that when I store them in my sounds folder, I can text them to myself to save as a tone when I want to change them or be able to send them to friends and family. If I go over that size then it says the file is too large and wont allow me to send. If I am using bitpim to drop the tones straight into my ringers then I can run over that size but never try to go much over a 30 sec clip as Heavy Fluid said.
As for the sd card, I put it in the computer and drag and drop any tones that I have made to it and store them all there. For some crazy reason it will not see them with the .mp3 extensions so I have to rename them with a .mid extension so they show up fine.

I use Fleximusic Wave editor to do my tones with, it comes as a trial version but can be purchased for $20. It is really user friendly and I liked it so much even over Audacity that I bought it. Not often do I pick price over free ..lol but this was worth it.

What folder do you put them in? I have an ENV2 and have done what you said, but I do not see the option of setting them as ringtones. I dropped them in to the my_sounds folder on the card.

You will not have the option to set as a ringtone til you text them to yourself, the my_sounds folder is for storage of the sounds for you to send to yourself to be saved as ringtones from the text message just as if you would have chosen it as a sound to send with a pic or message to a friend.

    FIGURED IT OUT

Quit simple really. I just text the MP3 file to myself and save it as a ringtone.

If I have Verizon and unlimited text, picture, and video messaging will sending a MP3 ringtone to myself cost any extra??
