To compliment the BB apps thread, here's one for you WinMo users. I suggest specifying if a certain version of WinMo is required, etc. Have fun, and remember, no warez.
HTC Home Customizer (It will load HTC Home automagically)
PointUI Home (Very awesome desktop interface)
Pretty much any Resco application, Explorer is the best
SPB Backup (makes complete backups to a memory card at any schedule you want)
SPB Shell (Another interface, similar to Home but much better, just not free)
SPB Plus (So when you click X, you really mean X and not minimize, and several other nice tweaks)
Google Maps, Microsoft Live Search, both are great if you have a GPS.
Palringo (Combine IM client, AIM, MSN, ICQ, Google) FREE
BillThyCat
Cell Phone user since 1995
Owner of a Moto Electrify from USCC (Rooted) Freed up all those pesky USCC apps too
- There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary, and those who don't. -
Agendus (PIM software add-on for Outlook)
SKtools (keeps my Q9c clean and running well)
MotoQ flashlight (free app for light whe you need it)
Smartphone Notes (memo app that syncs with outlook)
SMS bubbles (popup text mail)
Google Maps, Microsoft Live Search
Kevtris 2 (game)
Homescreen designer (not on my Q, just use it to make homescreens)
I'll offer my list (note most of these programs are for Pocket PC's, which means they will not be of any use on a smartphone like the Q).
Microsoft Live Search (hands down most useful app, find movie showings, gas prices, yellow pages, weather, traffic data, and more. Free from Microsoft) HTC Home (and HHC customizer, free) HTC Task Manager (to close apps and manage memory) S2U2 (Useful locking application - happens to look like an iPhone, free) MemMaid (great for controlling application memory, $20) Calilei Calculator (much better than the default calculator, free) Clanger Theremin (awesome toy, make real theremin noises with your stylus/finger, free) iContact 0.6 (way easier to browse contacts. I recommend 0.6 because the newer versions are laggy on my 6800. Also happens to look like an iPhone, free) HTC MP3 Trimmer (new software that shipped with the HTC Diamond. Lets you splice up MP3s to use for ringtones, free) Dashwire (backup contacts, sms, call logs, pics and videos, and more. free) HTC Album (picture viewer with cool gestures to interact with photos, free) SPB Pocket Plus (I use it for the smart scrolling in IE and for some of its other neat features like ZIP integration in File Explorer. $30)
I also recommend PushEffect by Qore Functions for those who do not have Exchange Server access. It's $20 but it's the best push email solution I've found.
If anyone needs links to the freeware listed here, PM me!

For Pocket PC I'll add:
Esmertec JBed - java emulator for running certain games and Opera Mini
Opera Mini - you need a java emulator to run it on the 6800, Esmertec Jbed is the best one I've found
SK Tools - great program for clearing up memory, deleting temporary files and keeping your device running smoothly
nueLED - Allows you to manage how the two LED's at the top of the phone behave, you can either completely get rid of the various blinking lights, change their behavior or create new ones

I can't recall off-hand, it might actually be the same version I was running on my Q...I don't think it discriminates between WM versions...it's equal opportunity like that. I'm running version 2.1.
The only thing I can provide in the way of a guide is this:
- Install Esmertec Jbed first
- Then download Opera Mini
- Jbed will recognize Mini as a java file format and ask if you want to install it
- Say yes
- Then when you have Mini highlighted within Jbed go to Menu and Properties or Permissions, something like that and set everything to "Always Allow" or "Never Ask" or whatever
Send me a PM and I'll just email you all the files if needed.
Actually I found it after I posted the question. Thanks, though. Now I just have to figure out how to get opera mini to show up on the main applications page.
I haven't tried it on the USCC version of the OS, but I do know it works on my phone. I don't see why it wouldn't work on the USCC version. You would need the JAVA Pack and the Opera Mini pack probably though.

I don't remember anyone mentioning this one before: http://iwindowsmobile.com/index.html
These folks have a bunch of cool looking software including an SMS threader that I haven't yet tried, but will soon, and a few different overlay products for Windows Mobile that aim to make it a little more finger friendly.
So right now I'm going to check out SMS-Chat and Winterface. I'll report back in due course.
