I just tested this on my phone as i called my sister's dare and i did not here a ticking noise in the background i went to the quiteist place possible and still didnt here it. sounds pretty weird mabye go to the verizon store and show them.
Sorry i really could'nt help you that much.
I noticed this tonight when I was on a call. I thought it was just me.
I've not noticed this before tonight and I've had my phone a couple of weeks.
Is it a phone issue or a network issue?
hmm i dont know since i have the LG dare and it didnt happen to me mabye it is a location issue with the network towers near you.(?)
i think the ticking is a bomb!!! your phone is gonna blow up!!!

this is my third dare phone and the issue or defect exists.its almost as if verizon is afraid to ackowledge this as a phone defect cause no other phone has this prob on their network.
It's the proximity sensor that makes the ticking noise. It is a known problem that almost all Dares have.

papasin: at 1300+ posts, that thread has long outlived its usefulness. even with a keyword search and showing results as posts, a person will prolly miss useful information simply because the post didn't use a keyword. and expecting someone to read thru 1300+ posts, 90% of which doesn't deal with the issue at hand, is unrealistic.
the ticking.... my gut feeling is that it has to do with the accelerometer. I've noticed the ticking on my phone only when my phone is at an angle, not fully vertical or horizontal. I do not hear it on bluetooth. and I've only heard it on long conversations with my gf, when there's a high chance I've gone into 'uh huh, yes dear' mode and am laying back on the couch with my head propped up
I must be very lucky cause i have had no problems with Dare ticking.
All Dares tick. It's the hardware. Plenty of posts have been said about this.
Not ALL of them do. My first one did, I exchanged it for a new one, and this one doesn't do it. And I have very good ears.
That said, A LOT of them do it.
