SuperSlice reciever issue.

Ok, so say I try to talk to someone or record a voice message...i get nothing, but if i tap it on my hand or something, ill get that noise, but no voice what so ever, even if i yell...whats up with it? If its dead, or alive, doesnt matter, Im getting an Arch tomorrow....but I want to turn this into a project phone if i can unlock it. (mobile Ubuntu anyone?)
