First post, so please be nice. Yes, I still have this dinosaur, but like it, and don't really want to change. I did not find this question answered through search.

This phone has been stuck on "Extended Network" for months. No prior problems the 3+ years I had it before. Now regardless of where I am, I have to dial area code, which is a PITA, when all of my contacts do not have an area code plugged in. I took it to Verizon, and they reprogrammed it, but it's still doing the same thing.

They suggested new phone, with new 2-year contract , but my dinosaur and I want to move to pre-paid. I have pondered buying another 8100 on eBay, but have a few pictures/videos of a dearly departed friend, and don't want to chance losing them.

While searching today, I found a how-to on moving pics/vids to computer, and have ordered a data cord to do this.

In the meanwhile, does anyone have a suggestion/fix for getting this phone off of extended network?

Can anyone guide me to FAQ on how to port contacts from one phone to another?
