Yeah, the Olympic (summer) games work for me and I think are the best - like the only Apple iie summer Olympics game! You just have to try them and find ones that work. It's too bad the keys like # aren't accessible from within games...

Yes you will be charged, meaning it will come out of your prepaid balance.

My system is running XP and using the regular LG USB modem drivers, which i will link to later in this post, and bitpim official version 1.0.5 I was able to crack the filesystem and set my own ringtone. Here's how...

    1) You'll need to download the lastest version of Bitpim, google it, i'll leave it there. Install it.

    2) Next you'll need to download and extract the LG Modem Drivers.

    Get it here

Extract onto desktop or wherever you want.

    3) Plug in your phone, DO NOT HIT YES WHEN IT ASKS YOU TO CONNECT USB TO COMPUTER. This will then force the COM connection open and ask for drivers. Point it to the area where you extracted your drivers. It will install three drivers and then be done.

    4) Start up Bitpim and go to settings. Run phone wizard and select verizon wireless > LG > VX8800 (Venus)

    5) Next it will ask for a COM port to connect to. You want to choose the 'LG USB Serial Port' mine came up as COM12 but yours will most definatly be different.

    6) Don't bother detecting the phone once you hit next, it won't work. Just finish the wizard and click ok on the setting dialog box. Next go to the filesystem icon on the left then on the next pane over hit the plus sign.

LET BITPIM READ THE FILESYSTEM, THIS TAKE A WHILE, BE PATIENT!

    7) Go to brew > shared > ringtone

    8) right click on the pane to the right, select New File.

    9) Choose your MP3, let it load. Then power cycle your phone.

    10) ENJOY!

Any question I will try and answer. This is usually the easiest method for ringtones. Enjoy Kids!

how about everyone just use my picture tutorial.. got everything you need to do the hack.... got both sets of drivers for xp and vista... and comes with step by step guide... check it out..

    www.piczo.com/makaveliadam71

let me know.. add me to msn if ya need a hand... vista is straight forward but some people with xp have probs with installing the drivers.. you have to install the new hardware and do it from a specific location.. go find the drivers you downloaded from my site (wherever your downloads go) and choose the win2k folder. click next finish whatever you have to do install... and it should work... but if you dont get the new hardware prompt than just use the setup.exe from the xp drivers download and ignore those 3 other folders...

*NOTE* do not have your phone plugged in when installing the xp drivers... it tells you to after. also if you want to check and see if they installed properley go to my computer and right click. then click properties. go into device manager. you should see a list of installed devices. you want to find the lpt com ports etc etc (not sure exact label) and then check and see if it says LG CDMA Drivers or whatever... (only will show if phone is connected and drivers are installed properley) if it says unknown device than you did not install properly.

    1. Install the latest version of Bitpim

    2. Download the LG USB Drivers here: http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=602944

Don't buy them, just view the ads. They take seconds to skip through.

    3. Unzip the files and put them all in one folder. There will be a setup.exe and three folders. Run the Setup.exe. You should get a message saying they were successfully installed. You don't need the files after this. Feel free to delete them.

    4. Plug your phone into your computer via the USB cord. The tiny front screen of you phone will ask you if you wish to connect your phone to the PC via USB. Select "NO". Your phone should go back to its regular screen with the time and stuff being shown. Now leave the phone alone.

    5. Start up BitPim. Run "edit/detect phone". It should detect an "other CDMA phone" or something along those lines. Click ok and go to Edit/Settings.

    6. inside the settings menu, click the button that says "Phone Wizard". It'll bring up a new window. Select the VX-8800 as your phone model. Click next. It'll then ask you to choose a COM port. Just select "Auto" and click next. From here just click finish. Finish or close the settings menu.

    7. You should be on the standard BitPim window now. Click on "File system" from the tree branch on the left. In the next column over, click on the + symbol next to the folder icon. Give it a moment to read your phone. After a few seconds, your phones entire file system should be open. From there it's happy sailing. You can follow my other guide on this page to get Opera running, or you can add some ring tones. WHatever you do from here is up to you :P Just be careful when mucking with the phones file system.

PS: A power cycle just means you turn the phone off and on. typicaly when adding ringtones, you add the ringtone, delete the "Myringtone.dat" from the dload folder, power cycle the phone, and they should show up.
If anyone is still having problems connecting their Telus Keybo, follow the instructions above. I couldn't connect my phone using the other tips here. So I went back to the beginning of the thread and worked my through it again. When I came to Mirage's post, I realized that I had over looked this one. So I gave it a go, and what do you know, I have a bunch of new custom ringtones on my phone. Thanks for the tutorial Mirage.

This is an addendum to step #7: If you don't see "File System" in the left window pain in the main BitPim window, go to the View menu and check off File System. You should now see "File System" in the left window pane. Ringtone folder is located under Brew>Shared>Ringtone

I'm wondering now how I can back up my phone book. When I click on Phonebook in the window pane, it shows nothing. But so do Ringtones. So I figure one of the folders in File System contains the phonebook data. Does anyone know which one it is?

    Thanks.

You turn on bluetooth on the mac and phone. You set one or both for auto discovery. You add the device using the mac wizards, then "Browse" it. Now you've confirmed they see each other and you can close that BT Fileexchange thing and open BitPim.
Set it to your phone (cmd-,) and Detect Phone (under edit). You should see stuff in a minute. To add ringtones you go to Media, Ringers, right click, Add.. and add any wav or mp3. it will as you to covert, then after you've added a few you can send them to the phone with the 2nd icon.

    You don't need windows,
    you don't need a cable,
you don't need any special drivers,
you don't even need a memory card.

    Mac OS X FTW!

Arcane, let me know if CPngN's tip works for you. I'm on a Mac system as well, but could never get it to work. I haven't tried connecting through bluetooth though. If it works, I may just invest in a bluetooth adapter. Luckily, for now, I have a PC in the corner (gathering dust, lol) for times like this.

    LG Drivers - Vista 64

Anyone tried with this method with vista? I tried to install the drivers on vista and it just said they were incompatible. the file only comes with windows 98 and 2k and some other crap. I didn't even see any XP drivers in there.

    Am i missing something?

all the drivers for xp and vista are on my site available for download. the only thing is with xp you have to manually install them most likely (if you get the found new hardware pop-up) not that hard to do. check out my site.
