    Unlocking the Nokia E62

I recently purchased a Nokia E62 phone on Ebay and though I have not received the phone, I have discovered that it is locked to Cingular. I am in possession of T-Mobile service. I contacted the sellers and was directed to Google which lead me to this site.

My question is how can I unlock the Nokia E62 to be used with T-Mobile service? Is there a specific code that must be used? Do I have to contact Cingular? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

debranding will get rid of the cingular logos in the menus and startup/shutdown screens. it will also decrease the security level so that unsigned applications can access the internet easier.

as for unlocking, entering the code from cingular is probably the easiest way to unlock the device. you can get the needed code from ebay, or having someone with a pda device on cingular service call cingular and request the code for you.

do note that you only have three tries to enter unlock codes from the keypad before your phone becomes "hardlocked". so do not try entering random numbers at startup when you are prompted for a restriction code.

was looking at iunlock.com to see if they will unlock this phone. they will, but the unlocking price is prohibitively high because use of a microscope is required to find the appropriate testpoints on the rap3g chip with their unlocking method.

There is no microscope and no TP need. BB5KING supports it without. check this here http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=63

ok, i just unlocked an e62 using bb5king and jaf. this process was quite time consuming:

-try to unlock phone using bb5king. unsuccessful, getting pm308 error suggesting to change firmware versions
-flash alternate firmware to phone using jaf. phone now dead and wont turn on.
-use phoenix dead phone usb flashing feature to get the phone back to life
-flash mainland china asia pacific firmware to phone
    -use bb5king to unlock phone
-phone boots up now and is unlocked, but displays chinese letters instead of english
-use jaf to flash north american firmware back to phone

some of my friends do it by cracking it! they use something like a back door entry. I'll ask them about it.
you may try other things for the moment.

nokia bb5 phones require firmware images that have been signed with nokia's private certificate. if the firmware image has the incorrect signature on it, the phone won't start the code. so patching the simlock check in the mcu file is not an option on these phones.
