Hello... I just unbranded my rogers blue 5310 but now have no internet. Would someone post a link to the rogers web and mms setting and how to enter them on my phone. I'm from Canada if that makes any difference. Thanks.

There was an awesome tutorial on how to do it here on Hofo, but I can't seem to find it again.

    These same specs.
Download and install NSU (nokia software updater) and NSS (Nemesis something something) then follow what nemesis tells you to do to install the proper USB drivers for your phone. I had to do this because it had problems being able to detect/scan my phone.
MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING (it's in the menu, save the settings and contacts and whatever else you want)
Once you have both installed open up the NSS client and scan the phone.
There should be an option to read and see the product code. Check off the write enable box and then change the product code accordingly to the colour you have.
Mine was blue, I found the code through Hofo, but don't remember it off the top of my head.
Once you've changed the product number, close out of NSS completely.
Launch NSU and scan your phone. Mine was at FW 3.63, it prompted me to update to 7.something. I agreed. This erases everything off of your phone and installs the new FW and Nokia OS.
After it's done (which will take like 20 minutes) restore from the backup you made on your memory card.
My texting took a few minutes to initialize, but works flawlessly now, and the menu is SO much faster, and I can set personalized ringtones and any mp3 song as my ringtone or alarm sound.
I know this isn't extremely detailed, and if you don't understand any part of it, contact me or find the original tutorial. But trust me, unbranding this phone is so worth it it's not even funny.

Mary, this thread is for "unBRANDING" or debranding your phone, which is totally different than unlocking it. Updating your firmware and consequently unbranding it from Rogers does NOT unlock it. Unlocking your phone comes at a cost, typically between $10-$20 and can be done through various websites that offer the service--like the above poster suggested.

    Doesn't unlock 5130 xpress music

Hi, thanks for sending me the site, but it doesn't have my phone listed, mine is a 5130 xpress music.

Can you suggest any other places to check out, I have looked, can't find one.

    Thanks,
    Mary

Hi, I have a blue rogers Nokia 5310XM and I have used NSS to change my product code to 0558988. The problem is, when I use NSU, the application says it's identifying the phone but after that I get a message saying: "Phone is not supported. The phone model is currently not supported." I'm on version 3.63 and am RM-304 - If anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be much appriciated

just wanted to thank those involved with compiling the steps to unbrand. I bought a used red rogers 5310 and unbranded to 0556883 RM-304 5310B AMER-N NA DEFAULT RED (V07.01). I stupidly forgot to record my original product code but the new firmware is much nicer without the rogers garbage.... Even though it's not the highest FW (9.42), i haven't had any problems yet.

Just to reiterate what the steps are:

    1) download and install Nokia Update Software
    2) download and install Nemesis Software Suite (used virtual USB)
    3) reboot a few times
    4) plug phone into USB
    5) launched NSS and scanned phone
    6) changed product code to above number
    7) closed NSS and launched Nokia update software
    8) let it scan the phone, it detected it and found the latest FW. It downloaded and flashed. took about 15 minutes

Since the phone was just bought and wiped already, i didn't need to save/backup anything. made things a lot easier.

    Thanks again.

    Toronto

    O/S: Windows Vista Home Premium
    RAM: 4 GB
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2 GHz
    32-Bit system

I'm having trouble installing the NSS software, after it completes, is there suppose to be a pop-up asking me to install a specific driver? From the "C:\Program Files\NSS\Drivers" folder. Because there is no pop-up and when I tried to manually install it, it says it doesn't recognize the driver.

Another thing is that I downloaded the Nokia Service Tool from b-phreaks and it was able to scan and recognize my phone. However when I tried the "Scan" using the NSS, nothing showed up.

    What am I doing wrong?

Nevermind it, I used the NSS app on my Windows XP computer and everything worked fine.

Thanks!!! Now I am free from Rogers! hehehehehehehehe and going crazy with the ringtones. Now one more thing, what other features are available? When debranded from Rogers?

    0558988 RM-304 5310B AMER-N NA DEFAULT BLUE (V09.42)

    I have blue-on-silver myself.

However, if you haven't upgraded yet (and feel adventurous to look for other colors), you could try one of the following codes:

    0560336 5310 ? (V07.01)
    0560337 5310 ? (V07.01)
    0560339 5310 ? (V07.01)

    0561211 5310 ? (V08.21)
    0561212 5310 ? (V08.21)
    0561213 5310 ? (V08.21)

Disclaimer: The only information I have on these is that they are valid codes for 5310s, gathered from the Nokia firmware site. I do not know whether they are branded or not (which is the point), whether they will hurt your phone, so on. The only reason I mention them is:

    1) They may be the elusive unbranded silver/orange/purples.
    2) I've already upgraded past this version and can't test myself (unless there's a way).

If you get into trouble somehow, the default blue is at v9.xx, and should let you 'escape'. Alternately, if you try the first block of codes, default red should let you reinstall over them. Again, no promises as to what these codes do or possibly inflict.
    0561213 is a T-Mobile branded purple version.
