I have always been a month to month kinda guy. Can not stand contract. My storm packed in 2 days ago and it was exactly 2 weeks after warranty expired. By the way, I brought my own device. I currently pay $57 for unlimited internet and 200minutes of before 5PM talk time. Also, I have nationwide MY5 and all the other free goodies like VM and CID.

Now, out of a phone I called Telus to see what they could do for me. Their hardware prices are way higher than what I have been purchasing on Craigslist. Anyway, for the first time in my life I had actually considered a contract. I asked them if they could throw in a free 8g iphone 3GS on a 3 year contract, considering they are selling it for $49 on that same 3 year contract. Retentions flatly refused to give me either an iphone or blackberry for free. Was asking them to drop the $49 an unreasonable request when I have never needed a hardware subsidy from them? Also, they told me that by moving to a new phone (HSPA) my plan would be changing and I could be losing some of my freebies. The rep made it clear that it was a take it or leave scenario.

One lesson I learned early in life is that money talks and I should never let anybody **** me around when I am the one spending money. i called the agent's bluff and went to my nearest Windmobile store and got the promo they have whereby unlimited data (and other data plans as well) is half price for the next 12 months. So I am basically paying $17/month for my data. My voice plan is now $45 nationwide for everything.

Well I had a good plan before but just negotiated to add the bonus 5gb of data. Got it without a renew or anything. My plan is the iPhone 65
I chose the fave 5 nation wide
    150 bonus mins
    100 cdn long distance
    Telus to telus long distance
    Ulimited text, pics, video
Caller Id, voicemail ( visual voicemail now)
    Eve and weekends at 6pm
And now 6 gb of data.

For a whopping total of $65 plus tax

    Woot woot!
I would like to get about another 30 mins of long-distance calling as I commonly go over they due to many incoming calls that are charged long distance to me. ( i work out of town lots)

I have all these features on both phones that we have.

I called up wanting to switch to a new plan so I could switch to a phone on the new network online, anytime I wanted. I didn't want to renew my contract as I still had 15 months left.

    Client Since: September 2005
    Avg $/month: ~$45 first 3 years, ~$68 last two
    Called 3 times

    Old Plan:

    $17.50 - Sweet Deal 25 - 6pm Night&Wkd
    100 Bonus Minutes
    100 mins $10 - free 3 yrs
    5pm early nights & wkds $2.00
    Caller ID $7-3 years free
    Corp - National Calling 15 $15.00
    FIM $15 - Free 3 yrs
    Loyalty Messaging 2 year
    Personal Email, IM & Web 30 $30.00
    TELUS mobile email
Voice Mail 3 - Sweet Deals

    Enhanced 911 Access Charge $0.75
    System Access Fee $6.95

    Loyalty Bonus -8.75
    Total $68

    New Plan:
    Voice & Data 60 - Unltd Msg
    5pm early nights & wkds $2
    PKG12 $12 - Free 3 yrs
    150 Bonus Minutes
    Corp - National Calling 15 $15
    FIM $15 - Free 3 yrs
    5GB BONUS Data

    Sub Total: $77
    Loyalty Bonus: -8.75
    Total: $68.25

So it's roughly the same as my old plan costs were if you include the unlimited data that was raised to $30. I'm pretty happy with the new plan and glad I can use the new network. Most of all I'm happy I didn't have to renew anything. Hopefully the agent didn't delete that loyalty bonus I've been enjoying the last 21 months!

a month left in my 2 year contract w a bb tour... was on a 17.30 plan + 15 unltd. with perks such as unltd txt, 150 bonus mins and caller id.

just got off phone with L+R and they seem a little bit more stingy this time around... thoughts? i'm looking to get the bb torch when it comes out...

    My offer:

    Clear Choice 25
    100 mins (+100 bonus, so 200)
    e/w from 6
    vm3
    call waiting
    conference call

    unlimited txt option
    free caller id
    500mb data
    50+tax = 56.50
its about 10 bucks more than what i'm paying now... with less minutes...

I called retention this morning. I'm under contract until April 3rd 2011. I told them I wanted the BlackBerry Torch and a better package as I was looking at the competition.

At first the rep said there was no confirmation that the Torch would be available on the 24th, that it was just a rumor. I pointed out that it was listed at twitter.com/telus and he argued that wasn't an official TELUS page and that the web site said it was Coming Soon. I was about to lose patience and the call had just started and we hadn't talked about the plan yet... Anyway, then we got to the plan...

    Here's the offer:

    200 minutes
    6 Gb Data
    Call Display
    Unlimited Text Messaging
    Evenings/Weekends from 6pm
    Voice Mail 3
    Call Waiting
    Conference Calling

The price is $73.78 including all taxes and fees. This is on a 3-year contract renewal.

Obviously not a spectacular offer but at least a little better than the regular plans.

About 2 weeks ago I was able to get Telus to move my brother's cdma service over to the HSPA service after talking to a reasonable rep. I guess it helped that they "thought" I paid outright for a HTC desire. I've been reading here and on rfd, and it seems that telus L&R has become very stingy as of late. It seems that they are only offering those clear choice plans. I"m worried because I got my brother on the Supertalk 15 plan.

They switched it over to HSPA and this is what he has. 2yr term ends June, 2011.
    200 daytime (+150 bonus)= 350 daytime
    After 6pm evenings, weekends free
cid, vm10, call forwarding, call waiting, conference calling
    Unlimited Text
    Unlimited Incoming
    Telus to Telus
    500mb data
    $15 + $25 (data - used to be $20 on cdma) + saf + 911 + tax= $53.90

I'm wondering now what are the chances they'll let us renew on a 3yr for the same price. They can't say the plan isn't compatible on HSPA, because clearly the plan is on the new network and working fine.

Called Retentions last weekend, after sitting waiting on hold for 35 minutes. Talked to a guy, didn't offer me anything good so I decided to shop around...

Called Telus customer service yesterday asking them "how to cancel my account and move my number to Bell". That got their attention, I was forwarded to an agent after quoting a fake (but reasonable) deal Bell 'had offered me'. After a little negotiating I ended up with:

    300 anytime minute
    My 5
    500MB data
    Caller ID
    VM3
    Weekend & Evenings from 6pm
    No 911, system access fee
    call waiting
500 long distance mobile to mobile
    250 out, unlimited in texts
    Visual voicemail

    All in $60

    I got nothing.
All I got was some piece of crap $15 unlimited data on cdma... can't even get m.youtube.com to stream.
Slower than maple syrup at ihop.
    Talk to me 25 = 100min local + 100min LD + unlimited incoming.
Unlimited text for being on contract. Canada, USA to and from.
~55.00/month after taxes and SAF (ceo bonuses)
    expires in 03/2011
The only reason they gave me the unlimited data (after the promo expired) was because some rep messed up his information.
Failed to say the data plan was only offered if the consumer got one of the three offered phones. (YUK).
When April comes around I'm just going to hang up on every rep that doesn't meet my needs.
That's also how I got the unlimited data plan. Just kept hanging up until someone with half a heart put me on hold to speak to his boss. If you are still out there... God Bless You and I hope you found a better job for a better company.
