    Howdy folks,

    So I found this place during my forays into the intarwebs to figure out what my options are since my contract is ending in early september. I'm pretty happy with telus and the plan that I am on now. What I have now works for me since I'm a light user.

    100 mins + 1000 evenings and weekends
    callerID + voicemail (which should be $7 as a bundle)

    for $20 + fees and taxes.

    I'd like to try out data (specifically web surfing on my phone) on a new phone (I have a LG 535) but I am concerned about the cost. Someone suggested that I should try to see if LnR would be willing to give me that bundle for the difference ($8). However I called LnR yesterday and the "best" they can do is renew my plan as is and add web surfing for $7 a month.

    Am I being unreasonable with my request? Is there a better deal to be had?

    I am looking for a new cell phone provider, and want to port out of Virgin...I am leaning towards Rogers and there new student plan since it will be around $50/month and will include a mobile browser, plus a N95 for $90 taxed in.

    Looking at some of these deals here, and noticing quite a few are for new activations should I call up Telus see if they can give me a good deal, I have looked at the Telus student plans as well, but the Rogers ones work better for me. Will they negotiate at all, or am I wasting my time? People having full email/IM/internet for $15 sounds like a really good deal, and I would be all over that on the Diomand for $150. I want to to keep my bills to around $50..willing to push it up if a company does provide a lot of extra services.

    Things I want:
    200+daytime if I am not doing a unlimted to 10 numbers like the student plan
    unlimited after 6
    unlimited texting
    VM
    CID

    Browser/internet would also be nice.

    I know there are a lot of reps here, so any advice would be appreciated, want to get this done by end of the week since University starts up soon and want it done before that. Also what number should I call up, the retentions line or the regular CS number (if someone has that handy that would be awsome).

    Hey guys, I'm new here and have had a little issue with telus from the get go.

    Sorry if it is long, but if you could please offer me any advice. It would be appreciated.

    When I signed my contract back in December, I wanted a smartphone, the rep talked me out of it said it wasn't necessary and considering the price of the phone, I agreed on a regular cell.. Well, the day AFTER they put out the MOTO Q for $0 on a 3 yr contract.. Needless to say, I was pissed. Here I was stuck with a 3 yr contract with a phone I wasn't too happy about to begin with.... I emailed them, phoned them, explained to them, asked about buyers remorse, they did nothing.

    A couple months later they offer me a $200 discount on a data device to extend my contract for 36 months.... I say great, Now I can get a smartphone.. Called up the rep, she TOLD me the blackberry was $300... So I was thinking I was in for a great deal....... I called back to order the phone and they said nope, thats the OLD blackberry.. so once again I got bumped back, and since I had wanted the Moto Q from the start I agreed on that and they were going to charge it to my invoice.. So i'm on the phone for like, 30 minutes giving information, and after it was said and done, they couldnt bill it to my invoice, I have no understanding why as my credit and track record of paying my bills is great.. She offered me 3 mts free txt.....

    I saw the blackberry pearl was out for 0 on a 3 yr signing, so I emailed ecare, and basically said "hey, i'm signing a 3 year contract (TECHNICALLY) again to get a new phone , can I get the pearl for $0, seeing as if you are already offering me a discount" they actually said to me in the email "Telus cannot afford to keep replacing handsets, sorry" Keep in mind, I had ONE phone, which at that point I still had and PAID for on a 3 yr contract..

    Alright, fine. I have no phone..... I decide to go into a telus store to pick up the MOTOQ, It was all I could afford.. I was in the 149.99 after 200.00 discount price range.. she basically says they are garbage and they stopped selling them... another setback... i was really annoyed at this point.

    I finally ended up with the HTC s640 which I like very much, but I have only had this phone 6 days and already it is freezing up, the battery will not hold a charge,and I don't think I have 30 minutes talk time on it yet, I would understand if I was using it all day long non stop, playing music and what not, the most I have done in those 6 days was some texting and email checking.... it took me 2 days to achieve a charge of 100% and by that night it was dead.......... I just want something that I am completely happy with, I am paying right now 40 a month plus tax, service fee, caller ID ($7) which brings me up to about 60-70 bucks.. it's kind of out of my range but considering the phone and how much I likeit, it's managable..

    I just think after all this, they should do something........

    Just called retentions..been a customer for 2 years.

    wouldn't offer me anything beyond $18 - 300minutes + e/w@6. with nothing else.

    wouldn't give me $15 web/email/im for the touch diamond.

    gave me some BS argument about it costing them $900-$1000 from htc, when I can go in and buy it without a contract for $450. (i know it being locked lowers the price).

    So basically i would sign a 3 year contract and get hardly anything better than what i have now.

    he said that they dont have the code for epp plans or supertalk 15, and that telus is losing money so they are raising their prices. canadian carriers make the second highest profit margins in the WORLD.

    any advice?

    Last time i tried to get a new phone but couldn't afford it i called l&r. They gave me $100 off a pearl an put it on my bill. and as far as instant gratification goes: it was there the next day! (i called them at 9am, but i still dont know how they did that.)

    Dont settle for a phone that you dont want for any reason!!

    I'm looking for some advice. I have been a telus customer for about 1.5 years now and have 1.5 yrs left on my 3 year contract (good math skills, I know). When I got my phone my girlfriend also got a phone, so we have 2 phones on one invoice, under my name.

    My samsung u510 has a broken screen now, I dropped it, I know theres no coverage for that. I want to replace it as half the screen doesn't work right.

    I called them and all they offered me was $150 off a phone with a new 3yr contract or $250 of a data device. OR I could buy a replacement W385($100) or sammy m210($50) or something like that.

    With 2 phones under contract and spending $100 per month, would I be able to get anything better than this, with some negotiating. I don't want to sign a new contract right now, as telus has not shown me enough reason to do so yet.

    I thought about getting a data device but I don't really need it as I have an ipod touch, and don't want to get a data plan. So I've been thinking I'll probably try to get a KRZR.

    So if anyone has any suggestions as to what I can say or do, or any other opinions on a phone to get that would be a great help to me.

    (LOVE the look of the diamond all the same, but if it has anything like the touch buttons on the LG chocolate, i will go insane. I hated that phone with a passion)

    Ive helped out a friend in a similar situation on bell and a friend who is considering going to rogers this week (well stupidly has just up and decided to go to rogers). I have also been with both companies and i have decided that there is no reason not to be with telus! If you are willing to go on a contract L&R will probably do alot better for you! and from my experience having a data device gets you far as far as telus is concerned. As far as specifics of what they can, i dont know. but i did randomly call them today and got the plan in my footer. I KNOW there is better though

    I dont' mean to be a jerk but.....you've only been on a customer for 1.5 years. I don't think you've shown telus enough reason to keep you......

    If you want a new phone, just buy one from ebay. you can probably get KRZR for cheap.

    Does anyone have any tips?
    I want to go to Rogers or Telus for there student plans....With Telus I want the Diomand and the student plan $50 BUT I want CID/VM/Texts included (as freebies). I have heard of people getting these types features for free when signing up..I called telus today..was on hold for about half hour than couldn't wait much longer so just hung up.

    Is it worth me trying to get the extras, some people here say it is possible to get a couple of things, especially if you want data or will Telus just say not until you have been with us a while?? If I mention the Rogers student plan which which is $25 that has some incoming minuts included will they even care, plus the CID/VM/TEXTS/WAP browsing for $10 with the student plan will that help me? I remember reading a forum here or on RFD's on someone who got the deal I am looking for , he had an actual store call retentions for him when signing up...is that something i should look at as well?

    If I do end up paying for the extras the plan is just over $80 (50 +15 + 6.95 +.5 + tax) which IMO is too much to spend on a phone.

    Also with Telus if I do order something on the Phone, can I go to an actual store to pick it up or do they have to mail it to you, and what is the general wait time before you can talk to retentions about getting other credits on your plan? I know with Rogers its at about the 6 month mark.
    Also what is the number most people use to call in, is there a 416 # for toronto for example so I don't have to be on hold for some time.

    Hopefully I can keep this short enough...
    Customer since sept 07, got into a 2 year contract for...
    First phone was a samsung m620, about a month later smashed the screen not covered.
    bought a BB 8830 hooked it up for a week took it back
    hooked up my htc s640 (got huge bills bc of wifi...)
    broke my htc 2 weeks ago, not covered...
    I can replace the handset, but what I really want is a different phone.
    Can I apply my $200 pda credit and start a 3 year contract now, so I can get a phone for free?

    Cdma phones are killing me, think telus will help?
