My gf has been with telus for 4 years and she's currently on month to month voice on the CDMA network. She wants to move over to the new HSPA network with a smartphone.

I'm wondering if this is possible to get:

    Plan
    200 Weekday/Unlimited evening weekends
My 5 Canada (although My5 local is good enough)
    6PM early evenings
    Unlimited text
    Caller ID, VoiceMail
    500 MB

    all for $53+tax?

    Hardware
    HTC Hero for $49.99?

Does this seem like a far fetched deal?

Right now I'm with Rogers and I'm able to swing the same deal over at Rogers but with a HTC Magic for $0 + admin fee.

I took it over already last week already.

Did you call just the normal Telus number, 416-279-2532 when you asked? Thats where I've been trying. Or did you call LnR?
Do you think they'd say no because it just my first month with being with them after the takeover?
The number for LnR is 1-877-279-3100 right?

I mainly want the text for now so I dont have to pay for incomming texts which is unfair, but it is a legitimate reason. So when I called Client Care, the rep told me there was nothing on my account that give any amount of text for free. So I guess I'll try calling LnR.

    - Unlimited text messaging
    - 500mb data

    $57/month + tax = $65

Or $15 more/month for 1GB data and 300 daytime minutes. Do you think I could squeeze an unlimited incoming calls as well?
This is not bad, but definitely not amazing either.
Compare to the offer I turned down which is quite similar to yours but $11 less:
    350 anytime minutes
    500 MB data
early evenings and weekends starting at 6
    unlimited incoming
    unlimited texts
    caller ID
    voicemail 10
3yr. pricing on a new phone
    $54 total (including taxes/nosaf/extraButtrape/etc)

If I were you I'd try to negotiate the price of what you have right now down to $50+tax first. Then get them to throw more minutes in after you're happier with the price. I've found that they'll throw minutes around without much difficulty, but not data. Unlimited incoming shouldn't be too hard.
    YMMV

I talked to client care when I was activating my new phone, and asked them about the free text that was offered the last time I called. They said there were no notes, so I got transferred to LnR who set it up, LnR originally offered it to me. Now I have no idea how they treat ppl that take over an account since I have a long history with them. Call LnR and ask it doesn't cost anything.

i think the guy said $54 everything in. So.... he's probably paying $47 before tax.

I think its a good deal. Congrats

to let them renew me I would NOT let the monthly cost go up at all on this phone; aswell they had to still match (or exceed) my company's bell corp plan.

in the end, my bill is *slightly cheaper than before, but I gave up 100 daytime minutes (that i didnt use anyways), and exchanged my unlimited data for just 1gb

but ...... now all my devices are on the HSPA network!

Anyone care to help me get a better deal or plan? Ive been with them since 2002. Right now I have the
Samsung a523, and this is what I have:

    Rate Plan:

    Sweet Deal 25 - 6pm Night&Wkd

    Added Services:

    5pm early nights & wkds
    Messaging 250
    Detailed Billing
    Caller ID
    Browsing $10 3yrs free

for the price of $42.50 a month.

I want to upgrade to a Data Phone, but I hear they are very expensive, the iphone for example. Is there any way I can get these plans cheaper? I would love and iphone, but its way to high.

Browsing on your plan will not work with iPhone since iPhone is a smartphone. Smartphones have their own plans.

If you want to keep your current features, I'd suggest you buy the phone outright. That why you can keep your basic voice features and won't get charged for data. But you will lose your browsing.

What do you mean by "buy the phone outright"? Buy it for the full price? As in the a new smartphone? How would I be able to keep my basic voice features, won't I be forced to create a new plan like a Clear Choice to be able to have a smartphone? I thought thats how Telus worked...

There are several cases on this forum where people just buy an hspa card from telus and transferred their cdma plan to hspa without much issues. The only problems that they usually have is with the unlimited browsing. Which doesn't apply in the Telus HSPA world.

Yes, buying it outright means to get it full price instead of signing a contract. Then you can get an HSPA card and transfer your account to that. That should be no issue with your VOICE plan. Not sure about data and browsing.

    Good luck!

My work is offering a Bell Corporate plan. Does anyone think that Telus would match or beat the $17.30 plan?
    -300 anytime minutes
    - free unl nights and weekends (6pm -8am)
    - free msg center
    - free call display
    - call waiting, conf calling, call forwarding and detailed billing
    - waived activation fee
    - per second billing (after first minute)

to add data plane from $25/mo 500 MB of Data.

Thinking of transitioning into the world of Data.

I am currently in a BB plan 150- family plan with my 5 and bonus of double daytime minutes. I am a year and a half into my contract with another phone on the family plan and an old plan for another household member. My daughter dropped the BB in the toilet where I found it marinating for about 3 hours after searching the rest of the house for it

I now have an iPhone that ~can now be used on the Telus network~

I checked at the Telus store, and it seems that if I change over my plan to an iPhone I can get pretty much the same, but the bonus minutes would go away. I can't work with just 150 minutes, and I don't want an increase in my bill.

    Suggestions?
