You may need to unbrand or flash the phone to have all orginal functions that t-mobile may have removed.

Using the firmware for what? There is no unbranded version of this phone, and likely never will be.
The closet model would be the SE z780, but that has a different radio setup, so at the very least you risk losing 3G functionality, or worse...
