Yeah, right after they switch to GSM.

I would assume that there will, eventually, be a CDMA version of this phone. RIM tends to spread the love with their popular devices, and they're sure to sell a boatload of these. People love flips.

If you really want it, you'll have to have some patience, though. If previous releases are any indication, it'll probably be around a year after the initial release that the CDMA version makes its way out the door.

and it'll likely be the 8230 (CDMA GPS version)

It's very possible that this phone will not come to Verizon at all.

    RIM's seems to be going to carrier specific exclusive phones. AT&T = Bold, T-mobile = Kickstart/Pearl2, Verizon = Thunder/Storm.

Javelin (GSM/Wifi) and Niagara (CDMA) are around the corner and those will probably be T-mobile and Verizon and/or Sprint respectively.

All of this remains to be seen. None of these phones are even available. A lot of phones start out as exclusive, only to lose their exclusivity after a few months.

It definitely remains to be seen but I find it hard to believe that the Bold will be an AT&T exclusive indefinitely when it is the most prominently featured phone on Blackberry.com. It seems as though it's going to be the new standard corporate device (replacing the 8800).

Will CDMA networks have to wait and wait and wait? Probably.

Presumably the Niagara is the CDMA 9000 equivalent, no?

I'd imagine any successful BB will make its way to all networks/carriers. RIM is in business to make money, afterall.

From what I've heard, "Niagara" is a code name for the CDMA Bold... we'll see I guess. Regardless, Verizon will release whatever they get in silver, then pink

i hope verizon gets this phone. just one good phone. is that too much to ask. the first cell phone i ever had was with verizon 10 years ago. then i saw someone with a nextel phone and i was like thats phones crazy!! so i switched to nextel. i figured some time in the future they would start getting some good phones and then i can switch back because nextel has the worst reception out of everyone. its been 10 god damn years!! and still there phones are trash!! who is runnin this company. how do they not have one phone i like. you would think they would have some big contract with motorola or something to bring a new hot phone that everyone likes and that would attract alot more people to join. do you guys have any idea the amount of people that i know that would switch to verizon in a second if they had some good sturdy stylish phones. its ridiculous !! ive got the motorola i885 and i love this phone so much.i would keep it the rest of my life if the reception was perfect. if verizon had that phone they would take over.

A couple of years ago, I would have agreed with you. These days, Verizon has a very nice stable of phones. Certainly from a Blackberry standpoint, they're on par with all of the other American providers.

I agree that they'll sell a boat load of these things. People do love flip phones. Not too long ago, nearly every phone in Verizon's lineup was a flip. People like me, who prefer candybar phones, were begging for anything non-flip.

    Kinda funny how things change.
