there's still a rumor floating around tmonews that a software upgrade will remove tethering support
this can bring negative impact that
1. massive return, or customers would't buy this model, which can affect sales
2. flashing, this will void warranty
it's better T-Mobile doesn't do such stupid thing, because this only annoys customers

This phone was beta tested by myself and 700 or so other New Yorkers - not sure if ya'll remember the "Portable Internet Browser" beta test that was listed here a couple of months ago. This turned out to be it. We spent a month beta testing nothing but the crap browser the device ships with. At no time does it state that its NetFront. It has no built in Flash support which NetFront does.

I have operamin 4.1 on mine loaded it two days ago, works fine
My antenna is smaller than yours
I've used Google Maps, no problem. It does have the My Location, but does not use the internal GPS for it but the cell network so not as accurate.

Does anybody have the gps working on their tm506? I can't seem to find satellites. I wonder if it has to do with me being just north of downtown chicago.

I dont want to disagree with you on my first couple of posts here but t-mobile is 100% not supporting tethering it as a modem - and will be instituting a software update to remove the modem option from the device itself. This is due to a negative impact on the 3G Network itself.
