N800...failed

as long as i want to use the phone to just make calls and text (maybe play games, sometimes surf the web and check my e-mail), i shouldn't have to worry about it not tethering, right?

Wow. Not even over EDGE?
Even my Sammy T-639 tethers extremely well over EDGE and was hoping it would do the same once 3G hits my area later this month.

What if you already have a s.e. data cable? I wonder if they blocked tethering via the cable.

That is really crappy. The TM506 is "high end" as feature phones go, so not having the DUN profile is a significant omission. There are many phone with lower specs that support this, so why leave it out on this phone?

Wow! Thanks for the heads up, looks like I can save myself some time and money tomorrow. Between this and them supposedly only releasing the amber tomo, I'm really not interested anymore. I'll wait and see what's up with the w760.

I even have the last resort is I decide not to return.....davinciteam, wait till they release "generic" fw of TM506, and still have hope

No tethering means not buying this phone for me.
At least I could tether over BT or with USB cable with my Nokia 6263.

thats odd... there is a menu option in it for network sharing....
I bet that needs to be turned on first.... and I would also be that wasn't done before the test.

if they're able to debrand it, I'll try, and use K850 setting (it's DB3150 platform)

Thats extremely dissapointing, now i'm hoping that a generic firmware can come out soon.
This way I can tether with 3g speeds.
