It should be $15 PAM instead of $40. Call them to change it.

This phone is alright. It has a lot of issues though.

    1. Handset volume is way too low. In quiet environments, its fine. Environments with a lot of background noise, good luck hearing.

    2. Battery life is ridiculous. You can fully charge it while powered off, turn the phone on, let it sit on standby and by the end of the night, it will show one battery bar. The estimated standby time advertised is a complete joke. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the software not indicating the remaining battery power correctly or if the phone truly sucks juice. I haven't played with it enough to figure it out. Either way, it's not my problem. FIX IT.

    3. Nextel direct connect alert tone is way too low compared to others.

    4. Direct Connect speaker volume is too low even at max level. Nextel and Nextel capable phones should have the ability to be LOUD. PERIOD.

    5. I think QCHAT has issues. Native IDEN is noticeably more reliable in every aspect. Sure QCHAT connects fine, but the call quality is terrible.

    6. The new Sprint ROM sucks. No more "ROAM ONLY" option exists. May not be that important to people that don't need to roam, but if you do, forget it. Automatic sucks.

The ic902 was a better phone in my opinion. People complain about the hybrid functionality, I never had a problem with it. It was everything a hybrid should be. I am thinking of selling my v950. Garbage.

    V950

I love my v950. I am a legacy Nextel user and use the direct connect a lot! I have 2 things.

-The speaker is MUCH softer then any Nextel phone I have used. This is in reference to both ringers and speaker use for calls and DC.

-The holster that came with the phone scratched the phone on day one. The pics are below.

I too think the ic902 is a better phone. After one day of the v950 I switched back to my ic902. It's a big phone for just being a phone. Its the size of the treo 800w and I didn't like that.

I like it, the DC functionality isn't the best but I only have RL as a reference, my gripes are with battery life, no group with IDEN or international is a downer

Oh, how I wish what you were saying were true. When I first heard about $15 PAM, I called Sprint. Actually, a Sprint employee told me in an on-line chat about it.

But when I called to get them to change it, they told me I needed to ADD a $30 Vision Pro pack. That's $45 total for data. Right now, I only pay for the $40 PAM.

My bad about that. Data pack plans almost double with the v950 and it is a requirement(not sure which for PAM). With the ic902 theres a $15 PAM add on w/data plan . I don't have the list on which data plans PAM can be added But kinda surprised it couldn't have been added with the regular $15 data pack. I'm not gonna tell you to try and make changes cause if it fails then I not sure if you can get back the $40 PAM

Until I read this I thought it might just be my phone only!.........I only have two days left to figure whether to get rid of this thing and go back to the 800 band or ask for another V950 to see if there are any good ones out there! Can't hear it on volume 7 most everywhere too. Chirps, beeps, Alets, Huh!..Like you say, the original Nextel phone alets, and chirps can "wake the dead" in comparison to these Q-Chat phones. Vibrate is a joke too!... Can hardly feel, it vibrate on my belt. While I can "hear" my daughter's phone on vibrate from the other room! Different make phone, and different company. Good luck, glad to find your post!!

Some folks have commented that the v950 chirp isn't loud enough. If that is the case, It isn't going to be very effective around construction sites (you know, like in the sprint commercials) and, the Nextel chirp has always been loud and distinctive.

CS tried to talk me into a v950 instead of a ic902, thank goodness I didn't.
