Yeah, I'm hoping it's a mistake on the site.

It would be VERY silly if they weren't compatible, so I have a feeling they will be.

According to the product page on Apple's site, the new earphones are only compatible with the new nano, classic, and touch iPods.

I have a feeling they will work with both models of iPhone.

The 'old' stereo headset's listing shows that they work with the new iPod models (but doesn't show the original iPhone, but we know for a fact they do work... they were included with the original iPhone) so I bet these should work. In theory at least.

Besides, all it takes is someone to buy them and test the theory... just like how we found out about the PSP headsets worked...

They should work for anything. And for $79 they better.

Because the ipod/ipod touch use it for voice recording. Which leads me to believe the iphone will get voice recording in 2.1. I also think the ipod touch will soon be a pretty good voip phone with this new headset.

Better to use a Mac and be thought a fool than to use Windoze and remove all doubt.

    Ah yes, voice recording.

The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB), and iPod touch (2nd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models.
    Nothing about iPhone. Strange.

Thread Crap: If you are interested in getting higher quality earphones, get some Shure's or M-Audio ones, not Apple ones. Apples ones obviously let you control playback, but that's of limited use to me.

Easy, so that this way Apple can come out with iphone approved earbuds and charge more money.

Yet the iPhone stereo headset doesn't refer to the original iPhone (as does any old iPhone item that works with the 3G on Apple's site)... but we all know that isn't true...

My theory is that the mic and play/pause buttons and mic will work, but possibly not the volume buttons.

I want these because of several reasons...

    1. In Ear Headphones with mic and controls.
    2. Perfect pricing for me (with two drivers!)
    3. I love how apple makes the cord length just right. I have several other in ears that make the cord way too long. Gets in the way...really annoying.
