New Apple In Ear Headphones

The new in-ear will be compatible with any audio player whether it be a music players, CD players, tape players, 3.5mm equipped phones. It's just a nice woofer and tweeter in-ear.

If you're referring to the new headphones, I would imaging it has to have some way to send the controller info back to the device which isn't possible to upgrade on a software level?

The firmware yes, but not the hardware. Just like iPhone doesn't work with Nike + iPod, I suspect the same to be true for (some aspects of) the new headsets, particularly the volume buttons.

But there's no reason they couldn't make a version of the new in-ear headsets for iPhone 3G (without volume buttons).

What's the big deal anyways? iPhone 3G (as well as iPhone) already has hardware volume buttons right there on the side of the case, so whether you reach for a little button on the cord or down to the case, either way you can adjust volume without unlocking or using touch controls.

That's true...I don't mind if the volume controls don't work on the iphone, just as long as the rest of the controls work. I will definitely buy this if that is the case.

Stand in a crowded NYC train or a DC metro and you will know that reaching into your pants for your iPhone can be a big mistake . My iPhone is set to one volume and it stays that way when I'm in a crowded metro. I'd love to be able to change it on the headphones...I'd love it.

I think I understand what he means because I was just in a super crowded bus today. Not really ideal to be moving around too much in a crowded bus, especially if you are standing...

Take your hand off the support rail to mess with volume and all of a sudden the bus jerks or turns and you may go flying...

useful for working out, if you have your Iphone in an armband and you're running, it's a hassle to reach around and find the volume controls. These headphones look promising, especially since I'm on my 3rd set of Vibe's(as fragile as you've heard)

Just curious to know if anyone has tried these with the 2.1 update on the iPhone....I'm hoping to pick them up tomorrow and try them out. I will report back.
