I'm hoping these work with the iPhone, 2G & 3G. Hopefully someone will update this thread with results if they try out the headphones on an iPhone.

I have some Shure earphones that have a mic in the cord with a little battery and amp. You push a button and you hear ambient noise without having to take out the earphones. Maybe that is what the mic is for.

i have the shure se210 and bought the phone adapter for them.
They sound so much better than the iphone headset. The phone adapter has the mic and the mute button which also pauses and skips your music when not in a call.
I am pretty sure they will work..... It says on the website...
Connector
* Four-conductor 3.5-mm audio jack
That is the same thing as the normal headset so I really don't see why it will not work. Same requirements for using it for voice recording or using it to accept a phone call.
I am going to pick up a set when it becomes available ..... if they don't work then I will simply return them ASAP.
Also, if you look at the plug for both models, the $29 earbuds and the $79 in ear, they are both sized to fit the 1st gen iphone's recessed socket.
You have to watch the keynote to catch that one...
Better to use a Mac and be thought a fool than to use Windoze and remove all doubt.
I'll wait to see if these work because I'm really close to buying a set of Shures otherwise.
I love all my phones but what happens when they get too old to be 'cool' anymore?
Does my desk drawer become the retirement home?
I read somewhere (can't even remember where) that it should work except for the volume control. Maybe like one of the previous poster said that all features might work on the 2.1. Well I hope so anyway.
Per the genius at the apple store the iphones ARE considered as ipods also (they're considered a wide screen ipod with phone functions) so anything compatible with "all" ipods is automatically compatible with the iPhone. And he pointed out that it doesn't say it's "not" comptaible, just that certain features, mainly the remote, aren't currently supported by the phone. Any 3.5 jack speakers, these included, will work. He said (and he was honest that this was his best guess) that the rest should be supported on Friday with 2.1 for the phone since the 2.1 touch and phone os are largely the same and in fact just use different parts of the same file (this is why some people jailbraking the phone end up making the phone think it's an ipod). He said apple won't want to say the phone is compatible now and have people buy it and complain so they just leave it off till Friday then they can say it is.
anyone got pics of these? Im getting an iphone 3g today, and dont want to get stuck with the old ones, should I wait?>
What do you mean by "the old ones"?!? These new in ear headphones are $79, whether you get your 3g today, tomorrow, or a month from now. They are not included with the iPhones...we don't even know if the mic, and buttons will work with the iPhones:Originally Posted by s4iscool

ah ok, i thought there were new headphones being bundled with the phone
That would be my best guess as well. I'd say:Originally Posted by Aero
But that's just my guess. We'll see on Friday.
- headphones will almost certainly work with iPhone
- mic will probably work with iPhone
- pause/play/skip/answer/ignore button may or may not work with iPhone
- volume buttons will most likely not work with iPhone

My guess is that everything will work. Firmware 2.1 for the iphone and touch are pretty much the same, unless they purposely leave something out of the iphone (i hope not).
Are they out already? I didn't think they were coming out until October...
The firmware yes, but not the hardware. Just like iPhone doesn't work with Nike + iPod, I suspect the same to be true for (some aspects of) the new headsets, particularly the volume buttons.Originally Posted by normy1024
But there's no reason they couldn't make a version of the new in-ear headsets for iPhone 3G (without volume buttons).
What's the big deal anyways? iPhone 3G (as well as iPhone) already has hardware volume buttons right there on the side of the case, so whether you reach for a little button on the cord or down to the case, either way you can adjust volume without unlocking or using touch controls.
