    Question Apple In-Ear Headphones

Apple has just added the In-Ear headphones to their store: http://store.apple.com/ca/product/MA...mco=MTIxODk3Mw

On the site it says they are only compatible with iPods but not the iPhone????

Anyone know if these will work or why they are not compatible, its a bit dissapointing as I was looking forward to ordering these for my iPhone.

    Thank you

Apple released a tech note that states that the new in-ear headphones with remote and mic are compatible with iPhone and iPhone 3G, but that only the headphones, the microphone, and the center (play/pause) button will work. The volume buttons will not work with iPhone 3G (as has been predicted a long time ago).

    PRL Interpretations
    XFF's AlphaTag software
    Cellular and PCS License Maps

Great. So we're stuck with the OEM headphones to answer, receive calls, and talk.

Not having the volume control is not too big of deal considering, the sound quality improvement and still having the play and pause control.

Ugh, no, everything you can do with the in-box headset you can also do with the new in-ear headphones. The only thing you can't do is control the volume via the remote, which you can't do with the in-box headset either.

Oh, I misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification. Volume control is not an issue since the iPhone has this already.
However, I just noticed the price! $89. OMG!

Just read this off of their site:

    *Compatibility Information

The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB), and iPod touch (2nd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models.

the mic and the answer call/play pause button work but not the vol controls. I will wait for some review and see how the sound quality of the dual drivers are.

Indeed. I'm waiting for some reviews and more reviews of the Zagg. Then i'll decide between the two.

You might want to add the Nuforce NE-7M into your consideration. I just ordered a pair of these after reading the reviews on them. Supposedly a great bang for the buck.
