and i say the pre-order is still on. i believe jediistar. i just think now the date might be changed a bit. but who knows. now were just waiting and searching for info on a day to day basis.
Could be...I was on my way to NYC so there's probably T-mo execs around. The phone looked really nice and I'm excited by it. Was thinking about getting the Touch Pro, but this thing looks so much thinner than TP.

As long as we're right more often than we are wrong I'm a happy camper. I could only hope to be 100% right 100% of the time. I've done everything I can do to verify that the presale was slated for September 17th and I'm comfortable with what was posted and I'll stand by it. If it turns out to be wrong, then we'll admit its wrong and move on. However, don't confuse us admitting its wrong with admitting that the information wasn't believable when we posted it.

Who is to say that the presale won't be a few days later than originally thought, what if its the same day as the press conference. EVERYTHING I have see points to a pre-sale so it just doesn't make any sense.
Still, you should post this kinda stuff on your site instead of buried deep in some forum.

And I think how you guys word some rumors is a problem as well. You need to make it more known that these are indeed rumors & that the details can (and probably will) change.

Finally, the name of your site masks itself as a "news" site when it is more a rumors site.

That was due to a last-minute delay, it was scheduled for Wednesday the 3rd. And I'm talking last-minute as in posting a news article on the 3rd telling us the launch was pushed back to the 5th due to T-Zones issues. I had to setup our in-store units to be able to access T-Zones since there is no SOC for the demo lines to be able to use epc.t-mobile.com as of yet.

I'm taking any proposed launch date for the G1 with the appropriate grain of salt until I see something on an internal site giving a launch date. And even then I'm not counting that as concrete information since it can change on a whim. My best guess, given the lack of information so far but the fact that it has FCC approval, would be late Septemember at best and more likely October. I just hope I can order it before my current handset discount goes away at the end of October so I really hope it launches by then :P

Why is it that we never hear anything from T-Mobile on new release of anything until the VERY last minute and most (all) of the other providers reveal information more in advance of the actual release?

Phones are beta tests months before their release. What you may have seen is a beta phone. www.onlinebeta.com does beta testing for Tmobile and had been seeking beta testers for a new 3G smart phone and was only available to beta testers in lived or worked in New York City. So depending on where you lived you may have seen a beta tester using a G1.

Not sure how you figured the pre-sale looks less likely. The pre-sale is for current T-Mobile Customers. I doubt T-Mo and Google will make an announcement about the pre-sale.

The Sept. 23 date seems more in line for a public announcement. More than likely about the same time the commercials start to air.
First of all its reuters and not tmonews, reuters has to actually have verifiable proof before they consider it "news". Second, it came from DT and not TMO USA, from two sources who probably asked to remain anonymous but still gave a specific date and place as well as saying that Google will be involved. Having a pre-sale would trump an announcement, it would be plastered all over the web and would leave a launch announcement, grounded. That's why I said it is unlikely.

tmonews.com has delivered some compelling and extremely credible information, in fact most of it is exclusive. I think what people fail to understand is that the mobile industry is very competitive, and therefore dynamic. Information is subject to change, I don't think the site needs to confirm the obvious. It's just like the movie industry, theatrical release dates change often as do DVD street dates. Harry Potter was set to release in Nov, it has been billed this way since January. Yet a few weeks ago, WB announced a new July 2009 release. That doesn't make WB any less credible, because the business decision changed and at the time they told us Nov 2008 was the release, that was the plan. It changed, it's that simple. Now that's public, imagine what goes on behind the scenes with dates and pre-order strategies.

I think tmonews.com does a great job in delivering exciting news about T-Mobile and its subsequent releases.
