I was in two cities in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre, back in March. I roamed on TIM and Vivo, both of them use 3G 2100. My debranded TM506 displayed H. Hope this helps.

    Well the specs say:

    UMTS/HSDPA 1700/2100

    http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/prod...06?lc=en&cc=us

So it would make sense if the phone could do both uplink and downlink in the 2100 band.

So if a phone supports both 1700 and 2100, it can run on both T-Mobile's AWS 3G as well as Europe's 2100-only band, but a 2100-only (no 1700) band Europe phone CANNOT run on T-Mobile's 3G?

You're right about no 1700 band meaning that it can't run on T-Mobile USA. I don't know if all of the 3G phones that have been released for T-Mobile USA will work on Europe 2100 only. I remember the same G1 that was sold in the U.S. worked on the European network.

I'm liking this phone more and more. I've only had it a few days and I think this might just work.

Two small features that are missing would be nice to have. My old but not forgotten Moto V710 had these features and I can only guess the SE engineers neglected to call Moto to ask for advice.

Moto called it the wait feature - you could insert a "w" after, say, the customer service number for your credit card provider and then key in your 16 digit CC number, then save the number in your phone book. You'd call customer service, and when they asked for your CC number, or the robot lady trying to sound friendly asks for it, you hit the "next" key and the CC number goes be-de-beeping on by. Very convenient and I need some downloadable app so I can have that on this phone.

Also, I could really use a repeating alert to tell me if I happened to miss a calender alert, or a text message alert or a call. Moto would put out a loud beep every 3 minutes until you checked and read your alert or missed call. A small thing, but I use the calender precisely so I won't miss important appointments, etc.

I miss that feature too. I haven't had that feature on a phone since either my Motorola V188 or Samsung T619. It was nice because you wouldn't have to remember the extension of a contact in your phonebook.

I'm going to gently encourage SE to get off'n their behinds and come up with a software upgrade that can be easily inserted into our phones that will provide the "wait" feature. It can't be that tough and I'm sure that many people want it.

SE engineers will no doubt be grateful that I have hipped them to a new and vital addition to their product.

Another small thing only peripherally connected to the TM506: anybody had to deal with the 'AI Roboform Assertion denied" repeating popup? Holy spam spewers, bat-person, it comes up and destroy the opening page of 'my T mobile.com', a page I'd sorta like to access. Roboform is connected to Citibank's 'virtual credit card number' software, I gather. I deleted the citi software -- it's been a useful feature -- but still I have the damn roboform infestation.

Here are some of my new questions:

    1) there is no way to backup games at all? I can't seem to find a way to put games on my computer, they just don't show up when I hook my phone up to my pc

    2) Why do people (such as Scottish Skydance) put in dialing numbers and go thru complex steps when tethering? All I do is open SE PC Suite and click on "connect to internet" and then I am tethering. Why doesn't everyone just do that? SE PC Suite is free.

It's worked that way for me also. Much easier than I was expecting. My speed is not as good as yours: 460.8 kbps but that's just the figure listed when I put the cursor on the icon below.

Not an especially hot number but it sure doesn't feel slow. I'll do a speed test here soon.

And thanks to the phantom mod for my new appalation. Oh yeah, my mom bought the phome for my 57 year old ***.

Well first of all, dial up networking does not consist of complex steps. You set up the connection and when you want to connect, you just select the connection and go. There's no need to open PC Suite to do that.

In addition, you may have been reading an old post regarding Scottish using dial-up. Because once the phone was debranded, he connects in the easiest manner possible (as do I), by just plugging the cable into the phone. Using the settings in the USB menu in the Connectivity tab you have it set so that as soon as the cable is plugged into the phone, a connection occurs automatically. This is only available in debranded phone as the menu is blocked otherwise. But it requires you do nothing from the computer side.

As for backing up your games, they don't show up in Windows explorer. However, you should be able to find them in a2uploader and back them up from there. I haven't it tried it myself, so I don't know what copy restrictions some games might have.

Maybe I'm an old pooper but I don't find the SE PC Suite process too annoying - pretty quick and reliable so far.

My web speed is perhaps not scintillatingly fast:

but it doesn't feel slow and I'm getting what I think is a pretty good deal from my Radio Shack sign on with T-Mobile:

$65 a month for 1000 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited web. I mean the Verizon or AT&T 3G contract alone is $60 a month and I was just paying about $55 with Verizon for 450 minutes, which I'd been going over for the last 3 months, stressing over some of my long-winded client all the while.

Yesterday I had my first problems with T Mobile, this after all of 5 or 6 days with them. I got 3 calls, I could see the party's name on the ID but there was no sound coming or going. I called them back and it worked fine, both directions. All 3 times I was in one of the top signal zones, according to the T-Mobile maps.

    Oh well . . .

There's nothing wrong with using the PC Suite to connect. It's not complicated either. I was just answering Bank Heist's question about why people would do it in a different manner.

I can't find any games or apps in A2Uploader. Any ideas?

    Look in tpa\preset\system\ams

That's where I found the jar and jad files.

If you right click on the file and select Read, it will make a copy to whatever directory on your computer you are running a2uploader from. It will place the file in the ph_out folder.
