    Verizon Z6tv firmwire

i have posted in the past. i really want to try this on my uscc z6m. I know the z6tv can be flashed to ANY moto UI firmwire. but some people say it cannot be flashed to the verizon z6tv firmwire it will brick it. why wouldnt it work?

I wouldn't know why you would want Verizon's firmware. It's so ugly and cripppled =P

The Z6tv can be flashed to every Z6m firmware EXCEPT USCC. Actually, newer Z6tv's can be flashed directly to USCC if it's the very first flash away from Z6tv firmware, but after that does not work at all.
If you want to experiment a little bit, try the following:

start the USCC monster flash with RSD Lite, then unplug the usb cord when 'Flashing Code Group 2' reaches between 1% - 2%.
Pull the battery and put it back in. Start the phone in bootloader mode by holding '*' and '#' and pressing the red power on button. This should bring up the blue screen.
Then plug it in and try the Z6tv monster again. This is the process I have to use to get the Z6tv to take Z6m firmwares.

I agree with ParthG, not sure why you'd want to go to vzw firmware, but if it is at all possible, this is the method that will make it work.

Have you tried flashing to other Z6m firmwares? Maybe using an 'intermediate' Z6m monster flash will help. For example, you might try flashing to the Alltel monster and then the Z6tv monster, or Alltel monster, USC bootloader, then Z6tv monster. If all else fails, you could try the Z6tv upgrade on top of the USC monster.

I would first try flashing from USC to Alltel, then to Z6tv monster. If that doesn't work, try going to Alltel again, then loading the USC bootloader, not the full flash, just the USC bootloader, where you'll unplug at 1%-2%, then the Z6tv monster. If that fails, try the Z6tv upgrade on top of USC.
The upgrade is fairly large in size, so it probably adds most of the Z6tv filesystem, though haven't tried it on top of Z6m firmware before myself, so the results are uncertain. I have tried Z6m upgrades on top of the Z6tv monster, however, and although I have to manually add some of the filesystem components, it works.

At the very least, you'll probably need to put the Z6tv mma_ucp and mma_dcp into the a/motorola/sysem folder and add the Z6tv 'Default' skin to a/mobile/skins.

Add these files while you're still on USC firmware, then unplug and turn off the phone; DO NOT restart the phone with the Z6tv mma_ucp and mma_dcp files, as it will most likely send your phone into and endless reboot cycle. Instead, start the phone in bootloader mode by pressing and holding '*' and '#' and then pressing the red power up button. The blue screen should come up. Plug the phone in and flash the Z6tv upgrade.

Here's a link to the Z6tv upgrade filesystem:

I'll be interested to hear how it goes for you

Can you be more specific? What were the results?
What about the results from Alltel to Z6tv?

    Good to hear

Could you outline the steps you took to flash, in case others want to try it?
