What is the difference between "Flash" & "SE Update"
Are they the same?
Flashing is the action of installing/upgrading software to ROM (Read Only Memory) of a given product (in this case a SE Phone).
SE Update is a tool distributed by SE which "Flashes" a SE product with latest authorized software for the device.
Generally when flashing is referenced on this site, one is referencing the act of installing software (aka firmware) either authorized or un-authorized to a device.
SE update is using Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) to get newer framewear on your phone, and flashing is using a program such as A2 uploader to see the framewear files on your phone and make changes to them so you can maybe unlock some usefull new things on your phone. Most times you need to use the A2 uploader and drag in a customize.xml file and then you can run SEUS and it will read the new customize.xml fille and update your phone with framewear based on that file. A2 uploades dose not work for every Ericsson and some upgrades just need you to drag the right files into the directories and do not need SEUS at all.
