sim card pin-locked error...

Just bought an iphone off someone here at howard forums.
He showed me all the features were working. But told me I had to activate it on itunes to get the actual phone working.

Brought it home, trying to set it up with itunes and get the following error, any idea?

Try turning the phone completly off, hold the home key and plug it right into itunes.

What does that mean?

u mean hold the home key and while having it pressed, plug in the phone into the usb and allow it to connect to itunes? (cuz that didn't work...)


(also, my sim is about 6 years old, could that be a problem?)

I had the same problem when I upgraded the OS to 2.1. I forgot I had changed and enabled the PIN on the SIM. When iTunes tried to upgrade the OS, it failed because of the PIN lock. On your phone, go to Settings >Phone>SIM PIN> and turn it off. Hopefully you know your existing PIN, otherwise you will not be able to turn it off.

If you SIM is not PIN locked, then I do not know why you are getting that error.

turned out it was my sim card after all. too old. you need a new one.


mine still said rogers AT&T on it.
