How get metro to activate your esn?? Help

Does anyone know what is the best way to get metro to add your esn to your account if the type of phone is not one that they support. (HTC Diamond)

The CSR told me that my MEID is not in their inventory so she cant add it and I have to goto a store.

I went to a store and the guy showed me the screen and my type of phone (HTC Diamond) was not one that he could do. I told him that it is already programmed (it is) with my number and metro. I even showed him that I can dial 611 and get metro. He said he had no way of adding me because my type of phone was not on there.

Any suggestions.. Any good stories of success..

try a different store/person

got lucky with my local store and a rep there the first time I went in with my mogul and she said well, I don't think I can but I'll try since you have everything setup already, she scanned my ESN from the back of the phone under the battery and entered some stuff and I was ready.

I tried a couple other stores when my friend was wanting to do his touch and it took us a while to find one that would do it in his town but we eventually did.

It is sorta hit and miss really. Basically just try around and you'll find somebody.

Actually DEC or HEX is what you should see on the back of your phone under the battery. Metro calls it MEID i think. But they don't need that just give them the dec. You will need to go into the phone settings and manually setup your info. Thats all i did. I did mine over the phone they can do it, if the phone is already flashed. Not needed for PDA's

Did you call them and speak to a person on the phone and they change your esn to one that is not in their database?

If so I will try again....

I understand the difference in hex and dec esn's and I know what a MEID is as well.

I just am looking for a way to get them to add my esn to my existing account.

you have to go to a metro store get your phone flased witch in my area cost about $40.00 and the program they use (hudini) will give your phone a new all numeric ESN I hope this helps!!!!!

when i activated my instinct the person told me over the phone they do not use esn numbers, all they use is MEID. I'm not sure if it would be a difference between phones.

Yes you have to go to a store, however if you're flashing a phone that's not supported (which you are) then they will NOT use their Houdini software but will instead have to manually add your MEID to their database which is where the trick is in finding somebody that will do that for you.

Also the Houdini software does not give your phone a new ESN, it adds your phone's ESN (which in the case of CDMA phones is the MEID) to the MetroPCS database so that you can use the phone on their network.

Can any store do the manual add of the MEID into their database or does it have to be a corporate store...

I am now learning that there is a difference...

Last question is there a way that a CSR on the phone can add a MEID to the DB. I am wondering what be a good excuse to tell her...

I went to about a dozen metro stores small and 2 corp... No one will touch a PDA Phone... the only way is to lone the unit

they won't add it over the phone you have to goto a store. I *THINK* every corporate store can do it (at least in Northern California it appears that way) and many authorized dealers seem to be able to as well but not all of them. You can check the site and get a list of stores that can do it in your area.

Funny since I've had a rep at my only local corporate store add both my mogul and my wife's without any problem. When helping a friend get his touch on he had to try several stores before he found one but ultimately did find one that added it for him.

They will add it if you find the right person, they aren't supposed to but some don't care or don't know.

But that is not needed, did you try those steps that I posted??
if you can't find the number using the range i posted use all 0000 and search from there, it will take some time, but it works

Well South Florida doesnt have many right people... One even told me that you may get it for a few months but if and when they find out its an illegal add they kill the number your actually number... thats just what one said me i still need the "Right" person..!!!

Cloning ESN's is ILLEGAL.
