Thanks for this! I really want the white or black face plate on my E71. I'm just really waiting for the black face plate to be up for sale. I'm a have to come back to this in the future when I finally change it

If the screen of the e71 is slightly cooked is if feesable to correct it by removing the front and re setting it?

I remember I tried this with the old 6682 but it wasn't able to be corrected, it was firm in there...

He probably means crooked. I don't see how your screen can be crooked, but yes - removing the front cover gives you un-adulterated access to it.

^^Oops yes I meant "crooked". You'd think I was typing on an e71 to make that mistake. I hate when the LCD is mounted slightly crooked in an otherwise perfectly built phone.

The reason for me asking is that if that's just the way the LCD/screen itself is printed, then there's no point in me opening up the phone. If it's a mounting issue, then I'll open it, and correct it.

Well, mine isn't crooked and I'm sure if there were others with crooked screens, we'd know about it. Might just be yours.

It's really very marginal - you'd probably think I was crazy if you saw how little it was crooked , like 1mm. Still 1mm is visible on such a small screen / device.

Got my faceplate today, along with a T4 driver. Taking the old faceplate off was easy, however it's a tight fit at the top where the faceplate clips into the bottom cover.

You only need to remove the bottom 2 screws, push the 4 clips from the back towards the front, lift the lower portion of the faceplate up and gently slide it towards the top. I did notice the cable that connects the LCD and like was mentioned, be careful when installing the new faceplate.

You need to slightly angle the faceplate, align the 2 top clips, slide it down towards the bottom of the phone. Make sure the top of the faceplate is flush with the bottom case. Then push the 4 clips into place and re-attach the 2 screws. That's it. Took me about 15 minutes, probably could have done it faster, but I was being extra careful.

Wanted to add don't forget to remove the qwerty pad and re-install into the new faceplate. Also, as was mentioned, make sure the pad gets behind the red clips.

Thanks to all who offered advice.....

Glad to hear you've got it done without issues. What did you swap it to? Let's see some pics.

I didn't change anything, maybe I should have, but it's the original grey steel. Now that I know what to do, I may change it to a different color in the future.

Oh. Yeah, instead of getting another steel gray, you could have gone with black. Infact, I could have sold you my original gray one for a lot cheaper than you probably got yours.

Wow, I was considering a complete housing swap, but, after looking at that document, the process looks quite intimidating.
