Any chance you describe the process, step by step? And what are the chances you took any pictures?

Hello guys, this is my very first post .

I have a grey version of this amazing phone. But since I want it to look even more chromish and beautiful, I have ordered a front and a battery cover for the white version of E71, since its chrome is more silvery and brighter. Today I received the battery cover and it looks amazing on the grey phone. I will post photos when I have replaced the front and bottom cover to.

I have a question. Is it really necessary to remove the four screws under the battery cover to replace the front? From what I can se fron the pictures, they're not attached to the front at all. But I may be wrong?

^ Nice. Looking forward to your pics.

Where did you guy your parts from? Did the front cover/bezel include the screen portion?

BUT I think the front includes the screen cover cus on the images on the site you can see that the plastic film protecting the screen cover is on!

I've actually put on the white front on my grey E71. However, it did not look as good as I had hoped it to, so I didnt think of taking any pictures and removed it right away, putting back the grey one again. But maybe later when my E71 is starting to get scratches, then I will probably change the front.

Also I did find it a bit tricky to remove the front. The hooks, or "pins" (not the ones at te top) that you need to push out in order to remove the front will grab the white coloured "keypad module" edges when trying to remove it. I Noticed that you must be very carefull in order not to damage the keypad module (don't know what it is called).

I think I damaged my keyboard when I took my phone apart. I was wondering if anybody has replaced the keyboard. How hard is it to separate the screen from the keyboard.

U may not have damaged the keyboard. The keypad attaches to the front casing via four clips that insert on the sides (2 on the right and 2 on left). If u look at the metal body you'll see red 'paint' where the keypad attaches. Make sure those clips on the keypad go inside the areas on the housing, NOT on top. its hard to describe, but if u take a close look, you'll see what I'm talking about. Good luck

I must have damaged the keyboard. I checked what your saying and the clips are under the red tabs of the case.

Why do you believe that you have damaged it? It's very, very easy seperating the keypad from the front assembly.

I ordered the White steel backing and keyboard from CNN.CN on Monday. Should be here in a week or so.

The white battery cover is sooooo much nicer than the grey (lines v. dots). Can't wait!

This thread will definately come in handy when I'm gonna be transforming my E71 grey to a grey/white hybrid .

P.S. I'm almost positive its a t5 screwdriver you need. They sell them at cnn.cn

Why not buy the black steel front/back covers? www.cnn.cn now sells them too...
I'm quite tempted to purchase them!

I checked and when I hit the a button it a9 appears on the screen. The K button opens up the calendar. Think I might have damaged something when I separated the phone.
