I currently have a 3gs iphone that's still on 3.1.3 and i would like to keep it this way. But I need to restore the phone first and I can't with itunes. When i try it wants me to update to the latest version. anyway to prevent this from happening?
Hello i took my iphone 4 back from a cheating fiance, an she changed the password so i couldn't use it. I called cingular an they said that it was nothing they could do since my name WAS REMOVED FROM THE ACCOUNT MINUTES BEFORE I CALLED. PLEASE HELP
My wife's 3GS is currently running 3.1.2 and 05.11.07 on AT&T. It is not JBed, nor does she want me to JB it. We do however want to upgrade it to iOS4, but don't want to lose the ability for future JB or unlock.
My similar phone is JBed and unlocked, so I have enough knowledge to make me "dangerous", but not enough for this case.....and I don't want to screw up her phone and suffer the wrath.....
I have grabbed the SHSH's for a while now using Tiny Umbrella. We have 4.0.1 which I believe should work. The thing is, I don't know what to do with what I have.....
I don't know if I just need to do a shift-restore and point it somewhere, or if I need to download a custom firmware or what....
So, basically, I'm totally lost!!!!!
Can someone either point me in the proper direction of the proper "how-to", or possibly give me a step by step on how to get her phone to a jailbreakable OS (iOS4) with an unlockable carrier?

Yes it is but you need to get a gevey sim card adaptor to unlock it. You can also update the phone to iOS 5.0.1 by preserving the baseband. If you update the phone normally you will end up with baseband 4.11.08 which is not unlock able

Unfortunately the iPhone 4 can only be unlocked when the baseband is 4.10.01 or lower to use the gevey adaptor, you can only jailbreak with 4.11.08 as for the 4s there is a adaptor that apparently works but im not sure what iOS it needs
