    Try reinstalling it, did you change the auto lock to never, maybe you need to reboot the phone. If none of these help, then you should restore the phone and re-jailbreak with the latest version of quickpwn, thats the only other way to unlock the phone

    hello,
    im currently running 1.1.4 on my 2G and would like to go to 2.2.1. questions;

    1. i currently have itunes 7.5. do i need to upgrade to latest version?
    2. i currently have my imei changed to be that of my nokia, if i wanted this to remain the same, can i still upgrade to 2.2.1 using winpwn 2.5.0.2? im assuming i can do this by DESELECTING the 'Enable Baseband Upgrade' box?

    thanks in advance!

    @mjjuevos,
    The best thing for you to do is, to change the imei to the iphones original one before doing the update.
    1. You need to be on the latest version of itunes, so go ahead and update it normally.
    2. Go to iphone-hacks.com and download the latest version of quickpwn and download the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloaders. Save the bootloaders to your desktop. Now make sure your iphone has no theme set to it, this goes as well for anything that changes the look of anything in the phone, put it back to the original look. Now connect the phone to itunes and hit restore and let the phone restore to 2.2.1. When that is done, open up quickpwn and follow the steps to unlock and jailbreak, but do not use the custom boot logos, leave it with the original apple logo. The baseband on the 2g is fine if it gets updated with the firmware, the worrying of the baseband thing is for 3g iphones, you have nothing to worry about

    how can you check the firmware without opening the box on 3G iphone. I know how it was on the 2G iphone. How does the weeks in the serial number work on the 3G. i searched, but i could not find anything for the 3G.

    I dont think it is possible to check what firmware the phone is on just by looking at the serial number, all that really tells people is what week the iphone was made and other stuff like that. By the way, are u perhaps selling it, pm me if you are. The only way you would be able to tell is if you take the phone out of the box and put a active att sim that has the iphone data plan on it and putting that sim in the phone and then going into settings to find out

    UPDATE: iphone 2g can be unlocked no matter what firmware you are on, you can be on 2.2.1 and the phone will still be unlockable. The iphone 3g is one where it has to have the 2.28.00 baseband to be unlocked, so you would have to use pwnage tool if you want to stay unlocked, if you update through itunes to 2.2.1 you will get the updated baseband which i believe is 2.33.00 or 2.30.00, this baseband cant be unlocked currently. This is mentioned on the iclarified website, so please think before you post eh wrond information, or just refer to this sticky

    If you don't know if your phone is a 2G or 3G, you should not attempt any modifications....
