LG-Dare (VX-9700)
First ill talk about some basic sets up to get you started then a little more advance
The Basic set up:
(Free Phone Book transfer & Back up, Editing Pix, Getting Free ring tones)
Steps to make a computer see your LG-Dare (VX-9700):
1.) Get the LG-Dare (VX-9700) phone and phone USB cable or use Bluetooth
2.) Download the basic drivers. The first driver you will need is so the computer can see your phone
a.) You can find the driver by using the setup disc the phone came with or go to the Verizon web site (www.verizonwireless.com)
b.) download and go threw the set up of the driver to install to your computer
Now all you need is the program to make changes to your LG-Dare (VX-9700)
Step up to get free ring tones and edit pix on your LG-Dare (VX-9700):
1.) go to web site: http://www.bitpim.org/
2.) download the newest version released
3.) hook up the LG-Dare (VX-9700) to your PC
4.) can use either USB or Bluetooth
5.) to edit the LG-Dare (VX-9700) you need to change the phone settings
6.) Open up bitpim
7.) Go to edit click settings and change the phone type to LG-VX9100 (enV 2)
8.) Then click get phone data or (read data from phone button)
9.) Select options you would like example phone book, txt messages, pics…ect…
10.) Or feel free to make new ring tones or upload pixs also from this program
11.) Just choose send to phone…
12.) From here you can edit ring tones and pix
13.) Send data to phone to save add items
*you can always send ring tones to yourself also if you like by renaming a 30sec music clip from xxxxxx.mp3 to xxxxxx.mid and email it to your self at: yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com
Ok so now you have master the Basic setups Free ring tones and Free Pics lets try to make it more in depth now…..
Hidden Menu Codes:
So Far I have seen about 6 hidden menus + and here they are:
Trick to going back a menu besides pressing the home button
Press the back button located in the middle of the bottom phone between send and end button
If you see your phone goes out of service signal your phone may restart in the settings
Always be sure to back up your phone before making any major changes which can be done with bitpm or any program like that just incase you want a reset
This will be mostly an out line of what you can view, how ever I have enclosed a few changes that you can make to your dare which is completely up to you
Changes are to be done at your own risk

Here is the Hidden Media Player
Go Into Get It Now -LG
Press Get It Now -LG
Press the get going folder (2nd row 1st folder)
Here you will see the options

Press Media Player
Here a music display you will see also with the following options

There is also a seconded way to get into the media player (This way is a little harder)
Go into Get It Now settings –LG
Press Get It Now -LG
Press the get Extra folder (2nd row 2nd folder)
Press Get New folder
By using this way then it will say connecting then give an error saying media center (info. Please call customer service)
Press Ok after seeing this then the third one in looks like a calculator with a clock is the media player double click and you’re also in the 2nd way a little more time consuming then the other way
(1st row 3rd Icon) is the media player
Also to all the media player has no function when you click into it, it’s just for looks unless someone knows how to enable it
All it is just a pic of a music player and a few options which you will not be able to use will appear

Those are the options that will appear though they are not currently enable so you will not be able to use them currently they are just for looks unless someone can unlock/enable this function

(People when you press this it does not disable your MP3 player it is stating that the MP3 is disabled in the first place)
(I think this however may have something to do with the media player when some one figures out how to enable the player let me know and the rest of us as well)
11.) Touch Screen –LG

you can go in to this and test out the area you have touched it will keep track of the number of time you touched and in which are also press the back button to see this then back again will give you and over view total hits success hits failed hits rounds and a recognition percentage press back one more time to end test press end button brings you back to the hidden menu screen

You can see the change in this if you now change it to small or large and go back into a. Touch Screen Recognition you will now see dots appear where you have touched either small ones for small or larger ones for the large dot

6.) To Get to the Hidden Activation Menu (Reset)
a. From the phone dial pad dial

This will reset and activate your phone
You will be prompted to select one of two options
1. Programming your phone or
2. Update roaming capabilities
It does take about a minute or two minutes or so for both options
After the wait the phone will reset itself and any small problems may be fixed.
Vcard Contacts:
Vcards or .vcf is the way Verizon stores its address contact numbers
you can always save these contacts using Bitpim or using a Bluetooth program is great also you can send contacts this way via Bluetooth from phone to a other phones or always back your contact list to your pc just incase you need to get your old numbers from an old phone also great to have if you get a new phone or some how numbers get erased to have them all saved and backed up!!!!
Putting a flash game on your LG-Dare (VX-9700)
Some say it could not be done but here it is
(Also if you want you original animated wallpaper back make sure you save the originals some where before changing them)
• Using Bitpim program
• Click the file system tree under the bre menu and expand it
• Click on the folder that says “flash” click on “UI” click “wallpaper”
• Here you need to get ride of one of the movable wall papers ex the moving people or the Dog ect.
• Right click the file movable back ground you wish to get ride of click save and save it to a new folder anyplace on your PC (for back up or to get it back later on)
• Now take the flash game now and rename it the same as the one movable back ground you just saved *Must be exactly same file name* and now save the new flash game to the phone
This new flash game will run as a background on your LG-Dare (VX-9700) to load it just change the wallpaper setting
Change your Verizon Wireless “ERI” Banner:
Verizon Wireless to “anything you want”
1.) You will need two programs:
a.) Bitpim & b.) Hex editor
Example to get a basic hex editor search in Google for: XVI32
Download and install your new Hex Editor program
2.) Open up Bitpim and view File system find folder “ERI”
3.) Save the eri.bin some place on your pc
4.) Open Your Hex editor
5.) On the left hand side you will see numbers on your right you will see letters
Change the letters Verizon wireless to anything you would like it to say example My Wireless
7.) Save or overwrite new eri.bin to phone using bitpim
8.) Reset the Phone and enjoy your new ERI Banner
Open Bitpim and find the ERI folder and save the eri.bin to your pc:
Open the Hex editor and open the file your saved eri.bin:
Change Verizon wireless to anything you would like then over write eri.bin using bitpim:
USB Mass Storage:
1.) To use your Dare as a USB Mass Storage device
2.) Make sure you have a SD memory card in your phone
3.) Install the Verizon CD that came with the dare phone
4.) On your dare phone Go to the main menu the four dots : :

6.) Press tools
7.) Scroll down to the bottom USB Mass Storage and press it
8.) It will now connect to your pc
9.) On your PC click my computer
10.) There now should be a removable drive
11.) Click into it and you should see the following folders:

d. MY_FLIX
e. MY_MUSIC
f. my_sounds
Listen to Music from your PC on your Dare anywhere: www.orb.com
1.) go to www.orb.com download this free program
2.) go threw the basic setup
3.) it ask for ps3 Xbox set up click no
4.) set up a user name and password
5.) configure the program on your pc
6.) now on your dare phone just go to the web site http://mycast.orb.com
7.) enter your user name and password
8.) in the speed tab set the streaming speed to 80kb/s
9.) in the stream tab select 3gp-aac/rstp format .3gp & save
10.) now your set your pc music from your dare
How to get movies on your Dare:
1.) Sorry all I was working on this but this section is not done yet
This is the best I can get you also you can do some more searching for this area
Free3GPVideoConverter
Free3GPVideoConverter – seems to be a good program you can save a video from your phone to your PC and view it be using the Free3GPVideoConverter program
Other Good Programs to check out using your Dare:
QPST
QPST is another great program to check out the file system on your phone and or make changes to your cell phone.
LG Downloader
This is also a good program if you want to mess around with it
Extra Stuff
Drag & Drop Icon
Set Icons to your main screen by drag and dropping them from the tab window (Shortcut Menu) from there just drag out any icon you use most often or would like easy access to get ride of just drag back into tab window (Shortcut menu)
Also with it being the touch screen you can flip threw screens by sliding threw the various screens rather it be the main menu, pics, or even music your listening to (this also changes the song your listing to)
Drawing Pad Name Change
Change Name on Drawing pad after pressing into the drawing pad just check mark the drawing you would like to change go to the X and press rename to change names of drawings
Phone as a modem
Use your phone as a modem with verizon software and cd this does charge you can use VZAccess Manager
Music they easy way
Also music back and forth you can use the verizon Vcast will get your song from and to your phone and pc
Bitpm
Great for viewing files on your phone as great way to make free ring tones
Just click the add ringer tone convert a mp3 song into about a 30 sec clip or so can be a little longer send to phone wait for it to restart and then you have your self a new ring tone
Phone Software Update Check
Go to the main menu (: symbol then setting and tools scroll to the bottom press phone info here at the bottom you will see software update you can always check for any new updates with the dare phone at anytime
Display setting
In the setting and options you can change the dare display to and from white and black setting
Black setting is better to see your dare phone out side when your in the sun
Blue tooth
Works great can send pics, vcards, print pics, use blue tooth stereo, calendar events, ect
Voice Commands
Has such options as call, send msg, go to, check, contacts, play (play all songs), my verizon, help, ect.
From here you can also go into setting and change you phone to read out to you, train your phone to better understand you, and other options you can change (Hear you can set your phone to read out the name of the person calling you)
MicroSD Card
The Dare can only support up to an 8Gig. MicroSd Card
Note Pad or Txt
You can listen to what is written on the screen by pressing the face)) symbol in the top right (you can also search you note pad for words)
Must have sound on in order for this to work
Photos & Movies
Photos -
You can also edit crop your photos, write on them, add stamps symbols, borders, you can also change contrast, sharpness, blur, brightness, has timer, auto focus, flash, face detection, multi shot, sound options, size settings, saving settings, ect.
When viewing pics can change screen 360* pic will flip to the way your holding the phone can also zoom up on pics with magnifier button
Movie -
Recording timing options 30 sending clip vs. saving longer not for sending, recoding speeds, flash, screen size, color effects, white balance, saving options, ect.
Music Player
When listing to music pics of songs will go 360* which ever way you hold phone pics of song will change with you changing how phone is held
Also can exit player and still have music on top of main screen playing will doing other things such as text, drawing, ect.
You can also set phone to music only mode no phone calls are allowed threw in this setting
This setting is in the music player setting music only can be set to on or off also here you will find the shuffle option and repeat song options (once/all/off)
Contacts Favs & Ice
You can have 9 fav #s saved to your fav contacts menu and ice you can have 3 # to have set incase you leave you phone lock only number allowed to be called out are the 3 ice that are set and 911 also can store personal info which can be viewed in locked setting
LG Dare Secret
Everyone this is an LG phone lets not forget most hidden menus say for the chocolate phone also work on the DARE since they are all LG products just look up codes or menus for LG models and give it a world how ever the GPS AIR hidden menu is not on the DARE because its under different setting but you well find the Hidden Menus I have listed well also work for the LG chocolate phones as well
Also one more thing most of the info I have gather from other users and have just brought it all to one place for all of you to view so I must say once again if not a million time thank you to all and so many kudos

I wasn't complaining, well I didn't mean to anyway. Sorry if it came off that way. But I guess my PDF can't be linked here it wasn't an issue for almost 4 months, I had to remove the link or risk being banned
Ill post the video info stuff from the PDF, should be helpful to others that don't want to dig that big thread. Then a MOD can just add it to the first post.

I don't believe this is "hidden" or a "menu". Its a feature of every Verizon phone. And whenever I have reprogrammed my phone (I do it on occasion just because) it never resets anything in my Note Pad.
