    Tethering HP IPAQ 211 to RAZR2 V9

Hello there! First post so please forgive my non-tech speak !

I have just received a new RAZR2 V9 and I need to connect to the internet through it with my HP IPAQ 211 running Windows Mobile 6. I use to do this with a V360 without any problems but have not been able to do this with the RAZR2.

I am able to establish a connection between the phone and the IPAQ via bluetooth, then dialing (*99#) seems to occur but, after 2 attempts, I get the message "the answering modem was disconnected". I checked with my provider (Fido in Canada) to make sure I did have a data plan, and I do. I also confirmed I had the correct settings (user=fido, password=fido). They said that the issue must be between the IPAQ and the phone.

I tried a bunch of settings and, since Windows Mobile 6 does not allow me to put additional dial strings nor enter an APN, I even tried updating the registry to add 'AT+CGDCONT=2,"IP","internet.fido.ca"', or a similar string with the same results. I think I have tried just about everything I could find on the net but am now running out of options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    Frene

    Thumbs up

    Victory at last!

After calls to Fido who told me to call HP, calls to HP who told me to call Motorola, I finally got it to work! In order to remove all variables, I first tried to connect to the internet using my laptop and the phone as a modem using the setting stated previously. When I was able to successfully connect, I tried again modifying the registry in my IPAQ210 to add the APN. When I tried to connect, it worked! So if you are facing the same difficulty, get a tool that will allow you to modify the registry and add the entry as described in my previous thread. The key is to make sure you make no typos!

    Good luck!
