I logged on today October 6 to my ATT account and I had a new message. It reads as follows.

The epix is getting the update.
Cool, thanks for the link. There is hope! Of course WHEN we get it is a whole other question. I know in Blackjack land we waited forever for updates, with months and months of target dates that were delayed.Originally Posted by Fps_pete

No Problem Guys.
Cant wait...
I'm glad it's receiving the update. I mean how can a phone(Epix) that is much more powerful than the Jack not get an upgrade?Originally Posted by Fps_pete

Greetings all, I am new to this forum with a few Epix bugs that I have overcome and one nagging that I haven't. Why doesn't the my documents folder sync to the desktop? It is empty and useless. Is there a registry hack? A web search turned up nothing. I have the pre-ID1 rom and it works fine. I have yet to experience the slog dump lockup and will not reflash to ID1 because of the GPS-battery issue.
Overall, I have pretty smooth running machine with little grief or buyer's regret compared to some of the other user's experience that I have read on this forum.
I hacked my Epix to run on T-mobile, pay as you go with unlimited web and multimedia capabilities. The best hack was to remove the Xcingular proxy lock on the registry.
Does reflashing to ID1 fix the my documents sync problems? Does anyone have a fix for this?
CREDIT TOTALLY GOES TO MARK ON MYSAMSUNGEPIX.COM Go there and thank him for his work

Brian…..
The issue has been resolved! I’v gone through 3 Epix trying to get one that worked and had finally given up.
The following is from Neil in the “Epix frustrations thread”. I tried it and my Epix is now 100%!
“….For those with battery issues I think I found a possible fix. It seems that the ID1 update broke the aGPS function of the device so that it will never connect to data. Prior to the update, the device would connect to the data network and find the location rather quickly. This does not happen after the update. With my limited programming experience, I would make sense that one line of code that points in the wrong direction could put the program into a loop and eat up resources including the processor. It seems that if you set the GPS not to use the assisted functionality, this does not happen.
Navigate in the file browser (programs>applications>file browser) to My Device/Windows/GPSTest.exe
Select: Menu>Options>GPS
Under the “Operating Type” option select “Stand-alone” and then select “Done”
This should allow you to use the GPS (if it works at all) without “Device.exe” hitting ~70%. For me it stays around ~1% where it normally is even when using the GPS and does not drain the battery faster than normal.
I hope this helps and good luck to those sticking with the Epix”
his method worked well b/c my phone no longer has the device.exe spiking up to 60+% when using gps.
So I heard from a WinMo booth representative that samsung is in the works of creating a samsung epix 2 and to be released in a few months. I couldn't get any extra info about it, but hopefully that would have some new toys that would help us overlook this first version of the epix
Great but the Epix update experience has soured me, I'll never buy a Samsung WinMo device again.
Yeah ... and I was told last June by a Level 3 engineer that a fix was coming in July for our phone. Still waiting (tho having fun with the 6.5 stuff floating around XDA). I still think it's a good phone design (for my use at least) and could of had a longer shelf life had the GPS issue been properly corrected. The work around (turning off aGPS) helps some, but come on!Originally Posted by Anaconda Gs
Samsung needs to address the issues with the Epix before expecting another penny from me on any of their product lines.

I wouldn't be interested in an Epix 2 either. I come off contract next April, and will evaluate the state of the art then. Will see if WinMo 7 builds are circulating, although chances are it won't be available until very late 2010 or 2011. Android seems to be releasing an update every month. And my wife loves her iphone and I have to admit it's pretty well thought out too. My next phone will definitely have a bigger screen, maybe a slider style, maybe dispense with the keyboard altogether. I like having the physical keyboard but my wife texts just fine on her iphone without one.
