Man there's some fun stuff in the registry...HKLM\software\samsung\ is full of interesting stuff, such as \wifi\macaddress... and \keyrun\ is interesting if you want a FN+key combo without resorting to a full on manager program...

Just tried smartskey, definately awesome. I missed the T and V page scroll from the BJ1 when I got this phone, now I don't.

Wait... are you trying to get rid of the clock? What the hell am I doing? lol. I looked back and you were asking about the Increasing Ringtone problem. I even quoted you saying that, but posted a clock fix.

Are you looking for a way to show the clock in the taskbar?

    I'm lost.
Player911 - no biggie I still would like to have a fix for theaccedning ring tone. But or soe I would like to find the options/plug ins for the today screen. There apperat to be a number of them out there (i just can't find them)

There are lots of great homescreens out there. It just depends on what you like. Google "PocketPC Today Plugins".

    Here's a few:

    - Lots of stuff there. PocketPlus is awesome, So is Mobile Shell.

Also iLauncher is a good one.

I got the Keytones changed like the on the Epix... I tested with the RainDrops and with the Lady...

it works... but I now know why they don't use them.

Pressing a number in the phone app... doesn't play the entire wav file like it does on the Blackjack. So while it works, it only plays the audio while the key is down... AND it'll repeat if you hold it down too long.

So for those of you who wanted the customizable keytones... well no you don't.

If you dial fast... all you here is a funky sound like you power a speaker for a second and it "clicks". I think this is a keyboard problem honestly.

Anyway this is tested and won't work unless we get a new keyboard driver, I'd say its not going to work.

Here is how you can test:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sounds\]
    DTMF0 - Sound = 0
    DTMF1 - Sound = 1
    DTMF2 - Sound = 2
    DTMF3 - Sound = 3
    DTMF4 - Sound = 4
    DTMF5 - Sound = 5
    DTMF6 - Sound = 6
    DTMF7 - Sound = 7
    DTMF8 - Sound = 8
    DTMF9 - Sound = 9
    DTML* - Sound = 10
    DTMF# - Sound = 11

To change them to a sound... delete the SOUND dword... and add a new STRING VALUE. Label the String "Sound" and the value equaling the sound name. For example

    Name = Sound
    Value = lady9.wav

Audio files should be in the \Windows\ folder.

I even went into SETTING >> Phone. I changed the Tones to LONG... but they still get cut off once you release the button.

    Sucky.

Here are the Audio files anyway if anyone wants to give it a go:

    Raindrop: http://www.sendspace.com/file/hkcilw

i suggest exporting (backing) up the Sounds registry key to your storage card and also renaming the existing Sound key to Sound1. that way you can quickly restore the regular tones if things don't workout. (this recommendation comes from a couple of bad, i mean very bad experiences f'n with the Sounds).

lol, well its not that bad.

I just created a String Value named "Sound" with a blank value... then copied and pasted it into each key folder, over writing the Dword value. Then I went in manually to each one and entered in the audio files, "lady_.wav", "lady^.wav", "lady9.wav", "lady8.wav", etc

I tested, decided it was unacceptable, and did the same thing... except created a Dword named "Sound" with a blank value... copied and pasted into each key folder, then edited their values back to 11, 10, 9, 8, .... 2, 1...

although it NEVER hurts to cover your tracks. But I'm so used to doing a hard reset, it doesn't matter to me. I have all my PIM information backed up.

Besides... the keytones WON'T work very well. They audio is cut off and sounds like it is clicking. I don't recommend anyone doing this unless they have a few ideas how to fix it.

that sucks about the incomplete play of the "lady." Better for my wife though, I think she was beginning to suspect something

Anyone know the registry keys for changing the fn+ settings? If it's anything like the connection settings, there's prrobably a read-only designation on them; can't change some of them from the default AT&T apps.

Has anyone figured out how to use the internal GPS without the assist function kicking in? I am going out of the country in a month or so and would like to use the internal GPS there without obviously incurring the roaming data charges. Figuring it out would also probably save me some battery live while navigating stateside. I am using Garmin Mobile XT and tried turning off the phone so that the cellular data would not kick in, but that appears to turn off the GPS as well, forcing the Garmin program to search for a bluetooth GPS. I think I remember seeing a way to turn off roaming data, but I can't seem to locate it in the phone settings (perhaps I'm thinking of my last phone). I suppose either way would work, but would like to figure this out.

    Thanks,

    Dan

If you install that Smartskeys and app unlock the phone you'll find that you have a couple new menu items in "settings->personal", buttons and fn key settings which will allow you to alter all of the button definitions.

The FN keys are all stored in the registry keys under HKLM -> Software -> Samsung -> Keyrun -> (letters A-Z for each FN+alpha combo) you can use one of the existing definitions as a template to edit an unused key. I think you may have to use .lnk files because i tried to use a direct link to an .exe and it didn't seem to work. On my app unlocked phone these values are definately all editable.

    Manila Music

Has anyone figured out how to make the music tab work in Manila? Mine just gives an error when you go to it.

Also, has anyone made the pictures tab work completely? The pictures come up but when you tap on them there appears to be no way to open them full screen and the Album and Slideshow buttons do nothing. anyway to change these?

I really like the Manila interface but it sucks that so much of it doesn't fully work. I would realy like to have a nice music app to use.

So I've decided to make the jump and put Manilla2D on my phone. I downloaded Player 911's files on my comp. However when I drop it in my phone file, it appears to stay hidden from me. Any suggestions so I can make this happen?
