911- thanks but I am unable to find this reg key- when I get to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\ I cannot find TBOpt
Maybe its a NOOB thing- thanks again for your help.
Sean - how did you get your apps to appear at the top? This doesn't appear to be a standard Today feature.
I don't have it either I just see task bar. I see an unlimitedclock value that was set to a value of 1. I changed it but nothing happened after reboot. What steps do I do to add this string/value?
Anybody tried NYDITOT Virtual Display 5.02? Changes resolution on the fly...
I have been trying to find a way to get Slingplayer Mobile to work since I got this phone as I have been missing it since my Blackjack days. It does work but is only very limited in the sense that it is a very small window and the controls are off (it was meant for 240x320).
This program here is supposed to allow us to change resolutions on the fly and I have come across several people with i780 models that claim this works flawlessly for them--here's one here , however when I try to force the screen to either 240x320 or 320x240 when it power-cycles the phone it comes back severely distorted and I have to power-cycle again to get the old settings back.
Anybody played with that app? I think this would solve alot of other program compatibility issues if we can get it working--or maybe if somebody else tried it since it could just be the fact that I have everything but the kitchen sink installed on this device and haven't hard reset it yet.
I figured someone would have taken my theme and at least created some extra colors. It's pretty easy to do in Adobe Fireworks. Just open all the graphic files in Fireworks, then apply a filter to adjust the HUE. All it is, is a slider from 0% to 100%. Going from Yellow to Blue, I just made the HUE 75%.
The whole theme is displayed from homescreen.xml in the \Windows\ folder. If you read through it, you can disable/enable tabs and manually edit the theme to your liking. Everything you see is a plugin, which to get rid of the clock, I would assume you would just delete the <Clock> code.
You'd also have to move the calendar items up using the funky coordinates.
First thing would be to get a completely functional skin working properly, then edit that. Just make sure you keep an unmodified backup... and post pictures and files of what you do so others can do the same.
Slow day at work yesterday, so I spent quite a bit of time tinkering with it. I was messing with the xml backup created by M2DC, not homescreen.xml. I'm guessing that they're the same though. I got rid of the clock and got the calendar to move around a little, but I'm still pretty far from what I hoped for. More tinkering required, and yes, I'll share what I have if I come up with something.
The best solution would be for the coordinates of each homescreen component to be dynamic. Where they'd adjust upwards/downwards as things above them are selected/deselected (kinda like the components of the stock "today" screen do..)
I'm headed out of town today, so it'll be a while before I show up again..
Yea. In my first post I went through this. Now I haven't used Windows Live or Google Maps yet... but I did use iGo8.
I was reading up on the i780 as it had the same problem. Simple fix. Go into Settings >> System >> External GPS:
Programs Tab - Set the GPS Program Port to COM1
Leave the other settings alone... even the "Manage GPS Automatically (recommended)".
Then have your programs do another search. The default program port is a virtual port I guess. I don't know why Windows Live wouldn't run on it since they're both made by the same people.
Anyway, after changing to COM1 i've found things find it alot easier.
First, they are not made by the same people. While Microsoft did make both Live search and Windows Mobile, they gave at&t a lot of leeway to change things up and so they did. Basically at&t is trying to make it harder for you to use any other navigation software other than their navigation app. Anyway, the easy way to get live search to work is to just go to settings and set the GPS to use the GPS intermediate driver.
I can also tell you how to get the Epix to work with TomTom 6 or 7 if you would like.

My experience has been that if you download AT&T Navigator and run it once, (you don't have to login and use the program, just run it), it configures the GPS and other programs will then recognize it. I couldn't use the GPS with GoogleMaps on the Tilt and the Moto Q until I downloaded AT&T Navigator and ran it once. On the Epix, Google Maps worked for me right out of the box though.

I never had a problem using Google Maps or Windows Live or iGo8 once I changed the Com number to a real port.
AT&T Navigator probably does just that, reassigns the system with a real Com port verse the default virtual one.
Oh, and I don't need to get the up and down buttons to work on the email. A simple flick up and down on the envelope scrolls through 'em
This is what I am trying to get. Please help! After folowing Player911's direction'
Here are the steps:
Download these files to your Epix: http://www.sendspace.com/file/uu8p5h
Install "1 Manilla DLL.cab"
Install "2 Manila.Engine-Beta-0.09.cab"
Install "3 NonHTC_Patch.CAB"
Copy Contents of "4 Blue Theme.zip" to \Windows\
Don't reset your device when promted to, in between Steps 2 and 3. Just Cancel the reset request and install the patch, then copy the theme, then reset.
You should have a pretty homescreen on a reboot.'
What I can see is only half the buttons at the bottom of the screen. My other problem is the Manila 2D only fills up 2/3 of the width of my screen (to the left of the screen), the right of my screen (1/3) is just blank. When I select weather and 'update now' then go back to my home screen, I can see part of the weather page to the right of my screen which was blank before. Also, Am I suppose to get the blue back ground for the '4 Blue theme'? My screen is black after follow Player911's direction and reboot my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Non-Working E-mail Notifications while LCD is off
I've been using phoneAlarm for the past day as a work-around for the non-notification of new e-mails bug.
With phoneAlarm audible alerts are still hit-and-miss, but it will vibrate and flash the LED when a new e-mail has arrived, and I've set repeat notifications to nudge me every few minutes with 5-long vibrates and a flash of the LED.
Samsung should be fixing this.

Is anyone able to flick through the Manilla screens?
Also, I do not like when the phone is holstered and a reminder goes off. When I eventually get to the phone, there is not a reminder window glaring me in the face, just the bell at the top. Any way around that?

Download that app mentioned for font customization on post #594. It is sweet.
My backup XML linked in post #593 can be loaded up with that app and the buttons display perfectly. Just copy the file into the \program files\M2DC folder and use the app to restore the backup.
Can you give me a detail step as I still can't get mine to show properly? Thanks.
