You can download all the files that I used here.

The 2 files that are backups can be restored using that M2DC program mentioned in the previous post. You will need it.
Let me make sure I understand you correctly
Copy the HTCHomeSettings.xml and the HTCHomeSettings-backup.xml into Windows.
Where do I find the M2DC program that allows me to restore? What 2 backed up files?
Sorry for my stupid questions as I am not good at this. Thanks

Only the HTCHomeSettings.xml needs to be copied into \windows.
Doing this should solve most of your problems.

They are in the ZIP. They will have backup in the names. You put the smaller one in the \program files\m2dc folder and the bigger one in \program files\m2dc\themes

Change the display of the clock in the taskbar
The clock in the taskbar can be changed to show not only the time, but also the date, or just the date, or nothing at all.
    To show nothing:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 0 (DWORD decimal)

    To show just the clock:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 1 (DWORD decimal)

    To show just the date:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 2 (DWORD decimal)

To show both the date and the clock:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 3 (DWORD decimal)

Note 1: If you switch to the Analog clock display, the date will remain visible -through- the Analog clock
Note 2: Setting the clock to show 'nothing' will still keep the reserved space, showing the taskbar background, and obscure any icons that will shift to the right.
Note 3: Your date may get obscured by the space reserved for the OK/Close button in the top-right. You can fix this my adding spaces at the end of your 'Short Date Format'. See also the tweak on 'Change the Short Date Format'

    ( requires a soft reset, I believe )

If I don't have the TBOpt selection how do I add it? All I have is taskbar. Under that I have the following:
    LegacyGprsNotification value= 1
LimitedClock value=0 (I tried changing this to 3 but did not work)

Thanks for any advise you can give on this.

Yes indeed, it solves my problem with M2DC home screen. A few more question:
    1. I notice on your screenshot, you have 'Camera' for your right soft key, How do you that as mine shown 'programs'
    2. In 'programs', how do I add Internet Sharing or whatever apps I use most beside those already there?
    3. To dial a number or look up contact, I now must select the left softkey 'Phone' first, Is there away to make it like before such that I can just dial the number or press a letter straight from the home screen to view my contacts?
    4. What do most of you use 'People' for? How do I change it to some other app that is more useful to me?
    5. Is there a way to silent or mute an incoming ringtone without pressing 'Ignore call'? On my original BlackJack, I can mute the ring tone by just pressing the volume up/down key
    6. How do I delete those ATT apps or stuffs I never use out of my phone? I believe I tried to delete before but got an error.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi All,

Sorry to derail a little bit, but I wanted to share a story I had yesterday with my Epix.

For some reason I got a few emails from folks saying they couldn't get through to me on my cell. Sure enough when I tried to call myself from a landline it would either go straight to voicemail or give me a "all circuits are busy" message. Outgoing calls worked fine.

I had been messing around with Manila 2D and some other things earlier in the morning, so I figured I'd been overdue for a Hard Reset, so it did it (twice) to make sure I was starting from scratch.

Sure enough -- same problem. I put the sim into some other phones I had laying around, and no problem there -- so it wasn't that.

I then took my wife's Tmo SIM (I am on ATT), and put it in my Epix. Sure enough I could call out and receive calls -- so didn't seem to be the phone.

So I threw up my arms and called ATT. After working with the customer service rep, they concluded that it was because the cell towers in my area were overloaded and I would just have to wait -- however, after I politely nudged that I had no problem with other phones sitting right next to me on the same network, they escalated me to what I assume is L2 tech support.

Once on the line with these guys, he noticed that my local routing number seemed off. I am a technical guy, but I'm not 100% familiar with mobile telecom, so wasn't sure how this worked. He worked on some things, changed some stuff on the backend and it finally started worked. He also explained that sometimes with newer phones and technology, if something is changed on the backend, sometimes a manual "nudge" is needed. (The other phones I was testing on was an old HTC Star Trek and a 2125) so maybe this is the case.

The reason I wanted to share is just wondering if anyone else has ever had a issue like this? I have been repeatedly calling my phone since yesterday to make sure it is still working, as I am leaving town for a week and don't want to lose my phone on the way. Maybe just paranoid since I am getting really attached to my Epix

On a separate note, I did ask the L2 tech guys about known reported issues on the Epix (such as the email notification bug, notification settings resetting after reboot, Outlook notes not syncing) and he pulled up nothing on their internal knowledge base page. He said for newer phones it usually takes a while for their database to be populated, and that I'd have better luck with Samsung direct on getting info on these bugs. So whatever Samsung is doing to fix the issues (if they are), are either completely on their own -- or ATT engineering doesn't really share with Tech Support (which being a manager of a Tech Support group in my company, I can feel the pain)

Sorry for the long post, but wanted to share.

    Epix and outlook problem

    HI,

I am new to this forum and i am not sure I am posting in the right place so pls forgive me.

I just got my new epix last night and set it up. Outlook works perfectly if you push send and receive. i have my outlook set for every 5 minutes to pick up my mail BUT it does not move. I have to manually pick it up. I have deleted my account and recreated it but this still does not help.

I also found that IE does not work either for the 3G internet. I had to download Opera and this works perfectly.

Does anyone know of any issue or hacks for this ?

By the way I am on Fido network here in canada.

I have gotten the Photo's to work just fine through a little hack.[/B] The hack basically makes your My Documents read off the SD card:

microSD Card = My Documents Hack:
    http://www.sendspace.com/file/5pssvs

Import that registry key using your favorite RegEditor. Basically it removes the Storage Card folder... and makes the contents of My Documents come from the SD Card.

Once you Import the key, backup any important files from the My Documents folder, and DELETE the folder. Don't worry it won't hurt your Epix. It'll automatically re-create itself if needed.

Then remove the take out the microSD card and re-insert it... or simply reboot.

When it comes up, it should now be My Documents and the icon should have a microSD pic on it. You've unified your storage.

    Pros:
    -Unified Storage
-Camera saves pics and videos directly to SD card
-Bluetooth files get saved automatically to SD card
-Homescreen pictures will read from SD card
-You can now have background images, ringtones, contact pictures saved to your SD card
-You can install programs to "My Documents" (which is... the SD Card)

    Cons:
-If you previously installed anything to the SD Card... the links will be broken

A solution to the problem is:
    A. Reinstall those Apps/Games so the links will be correct
    B. Manually edit the links so they point the \My Documents\Program Files...

I always do this hack first thing and it works perfect. Never have any problems with it. But it fixes A LOT of bugs on any WM device.

I am using PHM registry editor. I have the file on my phone but can not get the file to import into the registry. I am sure I am missing something. Any suggestions?

Never mind I found your other post and did it manually. It worked great.

Yea I just do it manually. This is always the first thing I change on a hardreset:
    -Install Resco Explorer to Device
-Install Resco Registry to device (or other reg editor)
    -Edit the key manually.

It isn't hard to find in the registry after a few times. I don't think importing it works well as I've had no luck either.

After I make the change, all you need to do is delete the old "My Documents" folder, then remove/re-insert the memory card... which will pop up as "My Documents" at that point.

It is a SWEET hack, but people don't use it as often as I do. It really solves LOTS of issues, especially when recieving bluetooth files... because the default save point is to "My Documents". Then you have to manually copy them to the SD card every time. Doing this hack makes all Bluetooth files be automatically saved to the memory card. No need for 3rd party programs.

It also allows you to have ringtones and stuff saved to your memory card and still use them.

I'm a big stickler for keeping my device free of extra clutter. I ONLY install things to my device that I will need incase my memory card dies or if I'm swapping it out with a new one, like: a File Explorer, Notepad, Registry Editor, Homescreen Plugins, etc.

    [SK1] String - "Contacts"
    [SKCmd] - "\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe"

Turn off TouchFlo plugin and Turn it back on to see the changes.

Now you can hit the Right Soft key, finger flick through your contacts, and call them with ease.
How do you install icontact to your phone? Thanks.

Player911 any way to do this if I don't have the specific reg selection you stated above? I would really like to do this to free up the desktop.

i knew that. i was kinda hoping to add more than one at a time. like a shift key on a PC does.

basically adding 10-12 people without having to go into the add recipient 12 times.
