I tried doing the manilla stuff too, but couldn't override the .xml file that people kept updating. It keeps telling me it is read only. I tried changing the properties to be not read only, but it wouldn't let me.
Remove TouchFLO from your list of active today screen plugins first.
Then you can overwrite the .XML file.
It won't let you do it while it is running, because it is in use...

I think it has to go in \windows.
You could backup your existing hh* files and the HTCHomeSettings .XML first.

I had PocketNester working pretty well. It has an onscreen gamepad in fullscreen mode, which allows for good Dpad Movement... and using the keyboard for A + B buttons.

I have been trying to keep up with this thread, but mostly I am just confused.
I like the RL Today theme that Player posted. I have the RL part installed. The resolution isn't right, and I don't think the theme is working. I copied the files over to my /windows folder. I copied them without them being in a folder first, and that didn't change the look of the screen. I then copied the entire "Diamond" folder over to the /windows folder. That didn't change the appearance either.
I have the "RL Today" clicked in the TOday items menu.
Where do I select the them that he made?
How do I make the screen resolution right?

I just want to get a more functional today screen that I can change the image files to something that I like. I like pink, so if someone can point me in a direciton where I can download a pre-made pink theme let me know please.
My hubby created a theme for my blackjack, by just changing the images in someone elses theme. I figure I can do the same.

Ok. For rlToday, the Theme gets copied into the rlToday install folder. That'll be either in \Program Files\rlToday......... or \Storage Card\Program Files\rlToday.
I'm hoping you installed it to your device vs your storage card. So I'll assume you installed it to "\Program Files\rlToday".
If you go into that folder you'll see a folder called "default", which is the standard skin. Copy the "Diamond" FOLDER (not the entire zip) into the rlToday folder, like this:
\Program Files\rlToday\Diamond\
Then from within the Options, the new skin should be selectable... which is pre-formatted to fit your screen.
As far as Manilla2D skin... make sure you're not using the plugin when you are trying to over write the files. I normally copy every thing over before I reset the device, that way I'll have a nice new Homescreen when I power back up the phone.
You can get it. Back up often and don't be afraid to hard-reset the phone.
i need help. my issue is when i turn the screen off. i put the phone in my pocket, and when i pull it out, the screen is back on, and its at some random screen because of the touch. is there a way to have it always lock. i have the settings to not turn the backlight on for touch or button press. i want it to be whenever i hit the power button to just turn off the backlight, that when it comes back on it asks for the password. is there a way to do it?

I never realized the options part after I selected RL Today in the Today screen part. It fits now!
There is only 1 little area that isn't showing up. Not sure why that is.

I'm trying to find a way to remove AT&T's 3G startup/shutdown animations. It's really annoying an it's driving me nuts every time I need to power down and power up my device. Does anyone know the registry keys that I need to modify for them? I tried looking for it but can't find it easily. I know that the Blackjack and Blackjack II were located in HKLM\System\Startup and HKLM\System\Shutdown but I can't find these keys on the Epix. The Tilt has it located in HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation I believe, but the Epix doesn't have it under Samsung... If someone could give me an insight in this matter, I'd really appreciate it.

I believe we have determined that the reason the phone appears to turn itself on is due to email retrieval according to a schedule. Does anyone else have any other thoughts on this?
Some have found the s2u2 program helpful for preventing the phone from turning on accidentally as a result. You might try that, if you don't want a password, however...
To do exactly what you want is possible under Settings and Lock. Check the "prompt if device unused for" box and set the timeout to 0 minutes and it will ask for the password every time it wakes up. Personally, I find that too annoying. Maybe if you set the lock time out a little shorter than the email polling interval you will find success.

I was able to play Kirby pretty easy

I dont have my phone linked with my email anymore, so hopefully it will stop turning itself on. as for S2U2, i install it, it runs and lets me change settings, but nothing works for some reason, ill have to tinker around with it to se whats up. and i did the timeout thing to 0 minutes, i dont mind haveing to use my pin every time, saves me from calling someone when i dont mean to cuz its in my pocket. i was having a problem with it though cuz when id be using my GARMIN gps on it it would go to the lock screen after so long, but i just put backlight overide on, so hopefully that will fix it. thanks for the help. just one more reason i love howardforums, people actually helping others. its great. thanks again
