Does anyone else have trouble silencing the phone with a call incoming. I have two Epix's, one has been Hard Reset and the other has not, and whenever I try to silence the phone by pushing up or down on the rocker, nothing happens. Another problem Samsung has to fix?
As long as it's not locked, you can silence it with the volumn rocker. If it is locked, it does nothing. Hope Samsung knows and will fix it as my Blackjack would silence it regardless.
i had a horrible EPIX experience a few days ago, the phone kept locking up, after 5 seconds of being on it would lock up. luckily i got a hard reset in a rushed pace, and sure enough, still locked up, luckily i was still in my 30 days, swapped it without a problem. But this new EPIX they gave me seems to be even better than my first, the buttons arent as hard and push a little easier, all notifications, email included, do sound and vibrations, it seems to be running faster, and typing quicker without a delay on screen. so i dunno if samsung is shipping updated ones now, but this one is awesome.

interesting. it sounds as if the first batch may have had a manufacturer's defect... in which case, wouldn't the 1 year warranty apply?

Yeah, i think it would. and if not it definately should. Everything is going flawlessly. My screen doesnt have the problem of staying on anymore, alerts are working perfectly, tethering is still awesome, and it seems to be running a bit smoother n quicker. Still has lag every now n again on some programs and stuff. but nothing major. I still dont kno wut happened to my first phone, every 5-10 seconds of being on it would lock up. hard reset didnt even fix it.

Anyone got time to reverse engineer the patch to see what they did. Was it simply registry modifications, which could be found in a before-and-after registry save and compare the differences? Or was it a ROM modification?

They're annoying. I HATE having to dismiss the stupid messages. Whats the purpose of having a message telling you that you have a message? We have icons in the taskbar, a audible alarm or vibration, and an LED status light.
Toward the bottom, look for these: {A877 D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
That is for Email alerts. You can tell what each one does by opening each one and reading the "Default" fields which will say stuff like "VoiceMail" or "Email"
Each folder has an "Option" key that has a value in it. Here are the settings:
So say you want the email alert to Vibrate and Flash the LED... well thats 2 + 4 = Value of 6.
No Alerts = 0; All Alerts = 15; Just Vibrate = 2; etc.
I just want Vibrate and LED... which = 6. So I went through the different notifications and found the ones for Email, Text, and Voicemail... and set them all to 6.
Then I tested it from my wife's phone... and it works perfect. Now my phone will vibrate, flash the LED, and of course... still display the New Message Icon in the taskbar.
No more stupid, useless, annoying messages telling me I have messages.
I've tried the above from post #192 in this thread, and the registry changes don't survive a soft reset (turning off and turning on the phone). The "Option" key mimics what boxes are checked in the Sounds & Notifications events.
Even when I check all 4 items, upon soft reset only "Display message on screen" is checked for the 2 Messaging events.
Anyone found out how to make the settings stick after a soft reset?

my workaround:
0. you'll need a registry editor (Resco, PHM, etc.)
1. go into sounds and notifications and set your email notifications the way you want them to be.
2. using the registry editor, navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\ {A877 D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
3. export registry key settings to storage card as a registry file (e.g., fixNotifications)
4. copy the registry file to the Windows\Startup folder
5. now when you restart your phone, your customized settings will be loaded on restart. you'll receive 2 message boxes: one asking you to confirm the registry import and another confirming the import was successful.

Hmmm, tried that and when my phone starts PHM Registry Editor opens on startup with the default registry entries for that key - not the correct settings.
Here's what the exported registry key is:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877 D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]
"Duration"=dword:0000003c
"Options"=dword:0000000e
"Wave"="\\Windows\\notify.wma"
@="Messaging: New e-mail message"
Do I need to put some extra text in the .reg file so that it doesn't open the registry editor on startup, it just imports/merges the file into the registry?
Anyone notice that their Epix frequently seems to just unmount or lose track of the MicroSD card? If I use the phone a lot it will suddenly lose links to programs on the MicroSD and say that the executables can't be found when I try to run stuff on the card. It acts like it doesn't have a MicroSD inserted at all... If I eject and reinsert the card it comes right back and works fine though. Kind of annoying, I never had this problem on my BJ I or Tilt.
